Crashing Bores - another version

Ummm, further to the earlier discussion on these lyrics, I have something to add. I would not believe he as singing 'silly willy taxmen'. So I listened and listened and listened and now I've got another version of what MorrisseyTour.com had up. All due credit to them for having got lyrics available.

If anyone else has already done this or can explain that I'm wrong then just laugh at me! I used a recording from Grim O'Grady. Thanks Grim for the neat CD.

I've tidied up some of the lines, but most importantly I think he sings in the chorus:

"policewomen, policemen, ‘silly women’ taxmen

I also suspect that the line starts 'lamenting' not 'demented' - so that's lamenting as in lamentable ie deplorable/ wretched. Can any student of English say if this is a reasonable use of 'lamenting'? 'cos I guess he's not mourning policemen.....

In the last verse I'm not sure what fate is doing to poor Morrissey. Is it wounding?

Any road up. Have a listen to your recording and see if you agree.

Your contributions please.

The world is full of crashing bores.........

You must be wondering how the boy next door turned out
have a care but don't stare because he's still there
lamenting: policewomen, policemen, ‘silly women’ taxmen
Uniformed whores
They who wish to hurt you, work within the law

This world is full, so full of crashing bores
And I must be one ‘cos no one ever turns to me to say
take me in your arms
take me in your arms and love me

You must be wond’ring how the boy next door turned out
have a care and say a prayer because he's still there
lamenting: policewomen, policemen, ‘silly women’- taxmen uniformed whores
educated criminals represent the law

this world is full, so full of crashing bores
and I must be one ‘cos no one ever turns to me to say
take me in your arms
take me in your arms and love me, and love me

What really lies beyond the constraints of my mind?
Could it be the sea with fate wounding back at me?
No it’s just more hot-shot popstars
Thicker than pig shit
nothing to convey
But so scared to show intelligence
it might smear their lovely career

This world, I’m afraid
is designed for crashing bores
I am not one, I am not one
you don't understand
you don't understand
And yet you can take me in your arms and love me, love me
and love me
Take me in your arms and love me.. etc

In the last verse, I reckon he's singing:

What really lies beyond the constraints of my mind?
Could it be the sea with fate MOONING back at me?
No it’s just more LOCKJAW popstars ...

I can't really make out the 'silly, willy' part on my copy but, it does sound more like 'women' to me in the second chorus and 'silly willy' doesn't really sound like a Moz lyric.
I think he sings 'Fate looming back at me' ??, but Mooning back would be a great lyric.

> In the last verse, I reckon he's singing:

> What really lies beyond the constraints of my mind?
> Could it be the sea with fate MOONING back at me?
> No it’s just more LOCKJAW popstars ...
