Jose M. writes:

Morrissey/The Smiths tribute band Sweet and Tender Hooligans will be highlighting yet another album. This time, from Morrissey's solo career.

SATURDAY JULY 31
SWEET AND TENDER HOOLIGANS
performing "Your Arsenal" in its entirety
SPACELAND
1717 Silverlake Blvd.
Silverlake, Los Angeles

Advance tickets available at http://www.ticketweb.com
This venue is 21 and over

Produced by the late Mick Ronson, "Your Arsenal" also marked Morrissey's first collaboration with guitarist Alain Whyte (sadly missing in action). Sweet and Tender Hooligans will perform all songs from this Grammy-nominated album including the hits "We Hate it When Our Friends Become Successful", "Certain People I Know", and "Tomorrow". A full set of Morrissey/The Smiths material will follow including maybe even a b-side or two from the "Your Arsenal" sessions.

Also appearing that night is The CurSe, a great tribute band covering the music of The Cure.

I'm almost sure you can do better than that.
  • She should fucking slap the shit out of him, and set him straight once and for all.

Be that as it may I'm sure he'll relish in the skanky groupies that follow this cover band.

  • Here's a song taken from Your Arsenal that the band is likely to play with new lyrics :

    How sad are you ?
How low have you been ?
    Don't let us know,
    Don't let us know,
    Oh but you should've kept
    Singing in your closet
    We wonder how
    You've stayed alive 'til now
    Don't let us know,
    Don't let us know,
    Oh but you should've kept
    Singing in the toilet
    You small fries
Then, honest, I swear if you had style
    I wouldn't be hostile
    Oh oh oh...
    Why do you descend
On anyone who has ears ?
    damn...
    Oh oh oh
    You love the Smiths
But you could've been fans of Queen
    Lalalah...

    Oh you're so phoney
    Oh... so phoney

    You don't seem old
    But you're likely to be
the most depressing people we've ever known
So far, so bad, we sadly know
That you are by far the most unimaginative people we'll ever know
You are the most truely nerdish people
That we will never ever want to know

  • but if people like them then good for them. i just don't see what the big deal is playing the whole of your arsenal. moz and the lads have played all those songs live before. would be more interesting if they did a set of songs that haven't been played live. just my suggestion.

  • A friend from L.A. recently told me that most Morrissey fans are more into the Hooligans than the man himself. I wonder if there's truth at all in this.
Did the egg come before the chicken or the chicken before the egg???
I think tribute bands are silly.
