Morrissey pops up on country album

Heigh-ho everyone. I thought this might interest some of you here if you haven't already heard. I was browsing through some of my cd's and I happened upon a new one that I hadn't noticed before. The LP, Heartbreaker, is by a country artist called Ryan Adams. On the opening track, titled "(Argument with David Rawlings concerning Morrissey)," Adams parleys with his second guitarist/back-up singer (the aforesaid David Rawlings) about the song "Suedehead" appearing on both Viva Hate and Bona Drag. Apparently Rawlings doesn't believe "Suedehead" is on Viva Hate, while Ryan Adams says it is. This short conversation, and some poking fun at the English brogue is the total track. It's fun finding Morrissey's name being mentioned here and there these days.

I don't feel like listening to the album right now--I only listened to the first track--since I'd rather listen to Radiohead so I can't tell you if the LP's any good, but for anyone who's interested, here's a rough transcript of the entire track in question (I've indicated Ryan Adams' words with a preceeding "RA," but Rawlings is marked by just the dash):

- "Nah, Bona Drag baby."

RA: "No, it's... no, it's Viva Hate."

- "Nope, I looked."

RA: "It's on Bona Drag, because it was a single."

- "Two... off..."

RA: "It's, it's the sixth track on Viva Hate."

- "It's on Viva Hate too?!"

RA: "Mm-hmmn."

- "'Cause I looked for it the other day."

RA: "Suedehead... yeah. Yeah, it's on there. But it's on Bona Drag 'cause Bona Drag is a collection of all his singles after the first couple of r..."

- "I don't think it's on Viva Hate but I'll have to look when I get home. "

[some background grumbling]

RA: "Bet you five bucks. I'd swear..."

- "I'll take that bet."

RA: "Okay. S'on there. One! Two...! Ope! Soda!" [stops playing]

[background laughter, more burlesque English accents]

RA: [mocks English accent] "He's got a mouth full of cookies!"

[some group laughter, and someone else parodying English accent in background]

RA: [mocking English accent again] "Left for dead...!"

I think "Suedehead" is track seven on Viva Hate. Anyway, at that point the tomfoolery ends and the band intro's into track two, the first musical piece on the LP. I don't know if this album is old or what, but it was released this year. I didn't see any news on it on the front page, so voila, here it is for all you good, good people.

Kisses.
