THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR, so don't bash me for it.
A friend of mine that has been associated with the Coachella event (via a number of the larger bands that perform there) has informed me that the rumor in the Coachella circle is that The Smiths have once again been asked to perform, this time being offered $8 million. Goldenvoice has apparently postponed releasing the lineup for a week while they attempt to lock down headliners, and apparently The Smiths are the desired ones. Personally, I do not believe this will EVER happen...

It would be nice if Alain, Gary and Spencer were back, but I know Spencer will never happen, so Alain, Boz and Gary would be top notch. Morrissey needs to stop using up half the set list on Smiths songs and re introduce some of his back catalog into the set list. ie Mute Witness, We hate It, Fatty, Speedway,There Is A Place, Our Frank, Love Life, Alma, Trouble Loves Me, B In Platforms, I Don't Mind If You Forget Me, the list could go on and on. That would draw more than a one off Smiths show that 40 somethings will take there kids and get drunk and scream for "How Soon Is Now". This is my opinion...
Take care

However, I could definitely see Morrissey and Marr playing live together again, possibly with Andy Rourke if Marr convinced Moz. Boz still on second guitar/captain of the ship. Drummer I don't know -- Matt and his brother seem like a unit now.

Ah, yes. The Smiths will go down in musical history forever and not just for having the greatist lyricist the musical world has even known. The other part was how johnny marr saved us from those keyboard shit bands that were in sheffield (sad to say.)
But they are just that, history. A mumour here and there but history.
Morrissey has a great band. Boz is amazing. Only Alain needs to come back to the group to make it complete in 2011. Why take such a step backwards?
I can tell you now that it will never happen. Morrissey does not need the money and if Morrissey and Marr and Boz ever did get together, they wouldnt be able to use the name TheSmiths because that twat from manchester would try and claim half of any touring rights, profits and half of anything, always, because he is stupid and sad and determined to constantly make a fool of himself.
Morrissey is a legend with brains. He doesnt need any of this and also Marr was on tv the other day saying TheCribbage were a good band......
