So I could not get a 5-day pass and ended up buying 4 nights.(My friend tried the second they went on sale.) It cost me $320.

Does anyone know if those who were lucky enough to get the 5 day pass really get to the front of the line? How does this work? Do you actually get something with your tickets that states this?

So even though I spent more than everyone else, am still considering getting the 5th night, and will probably wait on line for hours to get up front, people will be able to cut me?!!

That is completely unfair and the fact that there was an 8 ticket limit? Great, make those criminals who plan to sell the tickets on ebay profit more easily....

If anyone knows the legitimacy of this cutting the line bullshit, please let me know.

And how are standing room GA tickets still available on ticketmaster???

(They weren't even available on the presale.)

  • The passes were limited to 200. That's why they were gone so quickly. As far as I know, there will be two seperate lines. One for the 5 day pass, and the other for the rest of the tickets. The 5 day pass line will be let in first. This is the same case for Hollywood.

  • wow- i was lucky to get 2 5day passes!
I won't need the ticket for the 5th night as i am flying back to Europe so if anyone is interested please let me know.

Does anyone know for sure we will get privileges to get in first? SOmeone i know printed off the 5 day pass tickets but there is no mention whatsoever about getting let in first. Ticketmaster only said if it was published by livenation (which it was) it's bound to be wrong and just bad publicity..

would anyone have more info about this???

  • so at most there will be 200 people in front of you...BUT, there will be many many people with the 5 day pass who don't care to go up front and/or won't be there when doors open. so if you can't get up front past the handful of die hards with passes, then you are too weak.

  • Wow calm down people, give the girl a break here. I actually think she has a right to be bitter! It's disappointing to those of us that are willing to spend large amounts of money over and over again and even travel around to see Morrissey when we can't catch a break and manage to get a 5 day pass for our home city. Let's face it, there's only 200 happy people here and the rest are disappointed and most likely feel the same way Carmela does! That doesn't mean that the rest of us aren't going to spend the money and buy individual tickets, I mean of course we are, but it doesn't make you feel any better knowing that 200 people that spent less money than you did and will be waiting in line for the same amount of time as you are hindering your opportunity to be as close to Him as possible.

And let's be honest here, the 8 package maximum was completely ridiculous and unfair considering there were only 200 available. It should have been 1, 2 at the most. Just be grateful that you were one of the lucky few who miraculously got one.

And seriously, if you got the 5 day pass it was just luck , it doesn't prove that you are the biggest Morrissey fan on earth or something. Geez...

  • Just wanted to say that for anyone collecting the NYC tickets by Willcall, the Hammerstein info page on Livenation says 2 pieces of ID, Ticketbastard only says 1 so just in case make sure you have 2.

  • I hope YOU DON'T get to the front of the line because it's not fair to the people who have a life and can't go to all 5 shows..
    OKAY...

  • How do you know? I have spent thousands on Moz that I really don't have, just juggling the credit cards best I can. Plane tickets, hotels, warnings from work for taking too much time off etc etc. Unless your name is Julia, spending more gets you nothing.

  • This really isn't a question of fair. How you view the 5-day pass privileges (if they exist) really depends on whether or not you have one. Those who do think it's very fair. They've agreed to go to all 5 shows, spend the money, get NY hotels, etc., and many did so primarily because they knew that this deal kindly allowed them to not have to spend all day in line, that way you CAN actually go to all 5 shows.

Of course, those who don't have the pass think it's unfair. You might still spend money for all 5 shows, and yet you wouldn't get front of the line privileges.

There really is no fair-unfair dispute here. It's economics. An item was for sale with high demand and low supply availability. It's not fair one person gets to buy a rare painting or first edition book while another, equally capable and willing, does not. That's how it works.

  • i think the 8-package maximum is an invitation to touts/scalpers - how many people have 7 moz-fanatic friends who want to see him 5 nights in a row?? meanwhile it's short work for a tout: 5 tickets in one click for less than cover price - ker-ching!

time after time we hear infuriated accounts of internet ticket-issues, sold-out in an hour or less with tickets up on ebay minutes after the release-time (or even before). current ebay-price for nyc is $299 the pair. the package should have been restricted to 4 people maximum.

touts (at least in london) are basically gangs - you see the same faces outside every gig. i hesitate to say 'criminal gangs' because it remains legal to buy and sell tickets (despite the laughable 'not transferable' message printed on the back), and i would not legislate to stop honest people trading tickets.

however the familiar faces outside the gig tell me it's a family you cross at your peril. they don't like it when an individual sells a spare at face-value outside a gig. the problem could be solved easily if venues were prepared to buy back and re-sell spare tickets at the box office on the night. why don't they do this? partly because promoters and ticket agents view the public as necessary idiots, and reckon it's not worth paying a staff member to do 2 hours in the box office. and partly because certain people wouldn't be too pleased if they did.

how do so many many tickets get on ebay so quick after ticket-issues? because tout gangs have people on the inside - they're not stupid. unfortunately the audience are stupid: we use touts, we keep them in business.

the current ticket-issue seems to have been a farce in several ways, with conflicting information on livenation and ticketmaster - who are in fact the same outlet (genius)! if the website doesn't collapse mid-purchase, we have the extraordinary matter of the pre-sale password. what the fuck is that? yes i've been able to pick up passwords from kind people here and on the forums, but what kind of business treats the public on a 'pick up messageboard rumours' basis? i'm signed up to true-to-you and i never got an email about passwords...

it's all very well for moz to disclaim responsibility for ticket matters - i don't expect him to be taking the bookings - but a little more care and respect for his unique fanbase might have included more attention to the ticket-issue (why can't you buy tickets from the venue?) and strident measures to frustrate touts.

    Oh the oddities of Ticketmaster!

  • i'm puzzled by all the fuss about these 5-day passes. i luckily scored a pair, but i'm not banking on anything overly special as a result of it. Hammerstein is general admission. if one wants to view the show up close, all you have to do is show up at the venue at the time that the doors open, walk to the stage as soon as you can, and i promise you, you will be in a great spot, provided you aren't chugging beers and losing your place due to bathroom breaks. never, have i ever seen the stage *that* densely packed when Kristine Young hits the stage. it is always loose, and only becomes hard to move up front after she is done performing. everybody relax, get there early, and you're fine.

  • The UK tour sold out in minutes last year - a few dates had seated tickets left a few days afterwards when the tickets went on sale. Most standing tickets to MOST gigs sold out in an hour. So generally it is just tough luck. And lots of queing on the day!

  • I managed to get one, but some other friends didn't, and I feel so bad for them :(

About how exactly people with 5 day passes would get in front, I'm not sure. The thing about 2 line ups seems to make sense, but I don't know if it's true or not. It might end up being wrong, but it doesn't really matter as it's such a great deal to get the 5 day pass anyway!

.*.* I can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible *.*.
  • In 1985, when The Smiths did seven dates in Scotland, I was able to post a cheque to each of the box offices/record shops selling the tickets and got the tickets back within a few days. I got to all seven gigs.

But now it's all money, money, money. If people want to pay silly money to the likes of Ticketmaster (what exactly are all those "fees" for?) then good luck to them but they're not getting my money. I've seen Morrissey enough and now I'm more selective about how I spend my hard-earned cash.

As for touts, they're just scum.
