In the last may issue of French magazine "Rock and Folk", Barrie Cadogan (from band "Little Barrie") spoke about Morrissey (page 24).

Question by Rock & Folk : Morrissey?
Barrie Cadogan :" When I left Nottinghamshire for London I had to make a living. So I worked for a while in a guitar shop. I became friend with some customers like Noel Gallagher to whom I sold several instruments... This was how I happened to meet Boz Boorer, who had been Morrissey's guitarist for ages. Three years ago I had a phone call from him to ask me to take over Alain Whyte who was ill. I had to learn how to play 20 songs... in just 3 days. I never really had a chance to speak with Morrissey. I remember one night he took everybody out to have some drinks after a show in Copenhagen. Of course he remained silent and did not drink a single drop of alcohol. However he insisted to pay the bill."

  • Swallowneck pondered on one vital question about this guy whilst watching Moz at the Move gig in 2004 (with Little Barrie at his side)... He wondered what his pet name could be for his own pecker - Little Little Barry, perhaps?

  • Well, frankly, to be able to play that many songs in that many days, to that standard, is just amazing. This just continues to show that Boz is a great musical talent.

  • I actually think Barrie played the Smiths songs better than any other "lead" guitarist that Morrissey's had in the band (ie - Whyte and Tobias). By that I mean Barrie duplicated the Marr sound and style most convincingly...

Compare Alain's work on There Is A Light on Who Put The M In Manchester in the main concert footage to the rendition at Move with Barrie on guitar in the "extras" and you'll see what I mean!

  • I know I am repeating myself here but I saw Little Barrie recently and I was thoroughly entertained!

They went down a storm in Molotow in Hamburg – and I can thoroughly recommend their latest album 'Stand your ground'.
You'll melt away when you hear 'Pay to join', my current favourite track off the album, alone ... and the whole album provides a glorious soundtrack to whatever you are doing.

Barrie's playing is sublime ... with Lewis and Billy providing the perfect accompaniment. They have an endearing stage presence and to top it all they are very nice guys as well, stopping to chat with everyone afterwards.

    I highly recommend them...
