An old Armando Iannucci programme from 1994 was aired on BBC 7 on Friday 25th June at 23.00. It includes ‘The more you ignore me the closer I get’ and a sketch involving Morrissey stalking someone’s girlfriend, which is quite funny. You can hear it at this link.

The sketch is about 17 minutes in.

  • That was wild!
Good spontaneous cheeky fun that's replaced by more cynic humour these days.

  • I remember sitting listening to this show- and of course at the time didn't really know who any of the people were- but now they're all pretty famous (in a cult way) thanks to the TV shows that followed.

I can actually remember hearing that sketch, it was around the time I was just begining to notice Morrissey. I can picture myself laughing at it in my poky bedroom (I had the smaller one then), just 15 years old.

    *sigh*

Happy in this final acceptance of his own absurdity...Albert Camus
