Don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but I just got an e-mail from camp Morrissey saying that Morrissey is scheduled to play the Roskilde Festival in Denmark on Friday, July 2, 2004. Other artists scheduled to appear include: David Bowie, The Hives, and The Pixies.

  • 'Camp Morrissey'

I like that - reminds me of camp Freddie from 'The Italian Job" ( The first one - obviously)

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

  • well the moz is finally ready to take over the new millenium and he's done it at a right time when music has become such a drab. the only thing worth listening to is the sounds of music. moz angeles awaits the great one .....

More tour dates, more festivals, more televison shows. Morrissey must be bursting with energy.

It's looking like it's going to be a high profile tour with all these festivals and arena gigs. I think Sanctuary are looking to promote our Moz to a new audience. Basically, they are saying that he'd have no problems selling out the smaller UK venues like the last two tours but for chart success and to attract new fans it's got to be the festivals. I understand the reasoning behind it but will we be longing for the days of Hartlepool, Nottingham, Leeds, etc. before long?

  • I wish he wouldn't play all those festivals - the stage is usually far too long from the audience :) And you end up paying much more than a normal concert ticket, just for one show.

Oh well, I guess I'm just gonna have to fork out those 1000Dkr+ anyway...As far as I know, Roskilde do not sell one-day tickets.

I'm quite surprised to see him play Roskilde BTW - I seem to remember the arrangers swearing that they would never invite him again, after he has cancelled twice (once with the Smiths).

  • Phew. I was already kicking myself in the nuts for the fact that I had already made arrangements to go to Roskilde again this year and then they announced that Morrissey would play Hultsfred in Sweden which is (living in Finland as I do) much closer than Roskilde, but now I can sleep comfortably again without the need to try to make it (financially and time-wise) to two scandinavian festivals during the summer.

The Pixies and Morrissey in one extended weekend! Our trusty tourbus (named "Hermann the German" due to the fact that it's a Mercedes) is ready to roll, got my festival mood up and friends all ready to hop along so Roskilde 2004 + Morrissey, Here I come!

  • I hope Moz thinks of his Manc fans and does another gig in his home city, so all his loyal, local TRUE fans can go see him.

His current MEN arena date sold out to touts, clelebs and foreigners.

I think a Manc date should be announced, maybe at the Apollo, and only true Mancunians should be allowed in.
