The new edition of UNCUT magazine features an interview with Ian McCulloch of ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN. He makes a few comments about The Smiths, some good, some a bit cheeky. He refers to Morrissey as "him and his flowers"!

  • That's the name of their new album, I believe (Flowers). Not sure, but I think it's a compliment.

  • He's actually said nice things about The Smiths for a change by his standards anyway. He said that The Bunnymen and The Smiths with him and his flowers made music good again in the eighties, but since then it's been crap. Something like that anyway.

  • In my eyes that is a great complement from Echo and the Bunnymen to mention The Smiths influence on them. Because Bunnymen are a great band in their own right. Can't wait to seen them perform in L.A.

  • Even when I think that the name "Ego & the Bunnymen" would have been appropriated for them, no one can deny that when at it's best, Ian's voice has no valid competitor in the entire world.
Just listen to "Ocean Rain", "In Bluer Skies" or his covers of "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye" & "Hang On To A Dream" and you'll know what I'm talking about.
And I too think that Ian respects both The Smiths & Moz, only he's incapable of admitting it.
