The subject maybe wasn't trying hard enough (or has abandoned the idea of trying) but still made a few very interesting points. I really like that he said "it’s only people who look quite straight-laced who are the genuine article. Now that mass culture is so into looking glamorous and rock and roll, the people who adopt that look are the ones who missed the bus in the first place." I am a relatively young person (early 30's) but I have the sense that adopting a particular style used to be far more political than it is now. But even in the past, some of the most interesting people are the ones who looked very straight-laced. Think about Charles Ives, for example, composing all his nutty music while selling insurance and looking plain. Or Connie Converse, who looked very ordinary and was completely unknown, but who also made amazing music.

Sweetzer Trust (Score:0)

Last I checked the real estate transactions, Mozzer's house was owned by the Sweetzer Trust. I didn't look further to see who owned legal and beneficial title, however.

I wonder if the real reason for the sale is because too many fans knew where he lived. Real estate transactions are public record. I myself never paid him a visit, though.

SISMS Cover (Score:0)

I was pretty sure, that it´s DeeDee Ramones Sculpture, Moz is embracing on the Cover of the "Something is squeezing my skull"-Single. After reading the article I´m a bit confused. Have I mixed up DeeDee and Johnny or did the writer/photographer? Any Insights highly welcome. Also if anybody happens to know, if there was a reason to choose this photo, I´d be glad to hear about it.

Morrissey included "Judy is a Punk" on his Under the Influence compilation, and he explained in the liner notes, the following about the Ramones:

"Awful to listen to on first play, the first Ramones album stays beside me almost thirty years on...this is an album of criminal ballads, and "Judy is a Punk" still sends a shock through the blood, complete with re-herring lyrical lift from "I'm Henry the Eight, I am" ) Second verse/same as the first.)...I'm just glad they alerted us." :D

Overwritten but welcome.. (Score:2, Insightful)

The Q&A is well handled but the prose are so overwritten (a bit like Morrissey's own, dare I say). I haven't read the writer's other work but is the forced style because it's about Morrissey?

Nonetheless, it's a darn sight better, and more respectful, than most of the junk Moz media floating around out there.

Maladjusted a "critical darling"? (Score:0)

I thought the story was good, although it seems a bit sad that Morrissey's homeless. That house in LA seemed a good fit. But I thought it was really odd that Maladjusted is described as a "critical darling." That release was so badly reviewed, and sold so poorly, that it essentially ended his recording career for a decade. Even Southpaw Grammar was pretty much dismissed when it first appeared. Vauxhall & I was indeed a "critical darling," but not Maladjusted.

Refreshingly personal (Score:2, Interesting)

Thanks so much, Moz, Mr. Bird and Filter.

I'm glad Moz was able to speak for himself of the tragedy of losing Jerry Finn. Cedars-Cyanide indeed. The care on the floors past ICU are shockingly neglectful. The doctors are very good, but the nurses, sadly, well, more luck flipping a coin. There are labor issues, I've heard. But it sounds like Jerry's case was serious so I hope they took proper care. Sadly life slips through our hands no matter what at times.

And agreed, we are utterly ridiculous and petty things. Good advice for worry-warts of the world, Moz. Thanks. ...and we trot along for yet another song.

Bird's prose style is worse than Morrissey's! (Score:0)

Both Bird and Mozzer have a deeply pretentious and clunking way of writing basic prose. I can't make head nor tail of M's recent sleevenotes - complete gibberish most of them. Sometimes he just uses the wrong words. If he did ever produce a memoir it would need serious editing by someone who could actually write coherently. I have come to realize that Morrissey's so-called 'talent' is really something of a lucky accident. He has a great ear for the one-liner, sure, but he's clearly not as blisteringly intelligent as he would like us to believe. It's just luck that when he opens his mouth and starts to sing those sketchy, strange songs...something happens.
