Below is Erdman's fictional-story associated with the painting.

There is a seldom told story that Morrissey's tour bus broke down in small town Ohio in the autumn of 1994. A full day was necessary for the repairs to be completed and Morrissey and his band delighted local teenaged fans by stopping by a house party to drink beer and smoke marijuana. "It was the time of my life," remarks Tamara Marshall, who was hosting the party. "My parents were out of town and I was told not to have a party, but once Morrissey showed up I knew I wasn't going to be a secret for long." When asked what she remembered most about Morrissey's visit, Tamara answered, "He didn't like Rolling Rock beer".

Morrissey didn't tour in 1994. He toured the US in 92 and 97, but not between.

OK, so it never actually happened, but nevertheless an interesting picture. It's not clear though why Morrissey has been depicted handcuffed and kneeling behind the table. I would rather imagine at parties Morrissey is more likely to be engaged in say Twister or Kerplunk(?)

How vulgar and stupid. This is 4th grade bathroom humour--imbecilic all the way.

YES--you can poke fun at Morrissey, and I believe in freedom of speech... but I cannot believe this is a fan site.

Not to imply that all "features" or all "stories" have to be 100% devotion--this is just stupid beyond belief.

I am convinced, now, that this site is truly, unabashedly "so low."

Recycled Papers (Score:3, Insightful)

I think the artist was attempting some sort of humor by using this crap Dover clip art from 1982 and collaging some kind of surreal composition. You can tell that perspective is off and the line weights vary.

There is actually a better site called "Married to the Sea" that does a better job combining crap clip art as well as some old victorian etchings to make some really relevant, humorous commentary.

They are the same folks that do "Toothpase for Dinner" and I believe are Moz fans, too:

I posted this as a response to another comment, I'd rather it be posted to the main story:

Whoa, you people are really something.

I'm kind of a Morrissey fanatic. I got onstage in Cleveland in 1992 and have seen him 5 times since. I own a signed tambourine, countless import 12"s & bootlegs, a Picadilly Palare promo poster hanging in my bathroom. I'm not taking the piss out of the Mozzer in the slightest bit.

When I make art, a title sometimes comes into my head first, then I make the drawing. Rarely do I spend much time on the process because that's not my style, I come from a more "fast & clumsy" approach. When I made this drawing I wasn't looking to make fun of Morrissey. I was thinking of how nice it would be if Morrissey DID come to a party in small town Ohio. I'm also aware that he didn't tour in 1994, that's why I chose that date. I think it took me 15 minutes to make, tops.

You see, art can be whatever it wants to. If it gets picked up by some often read website and then gets passed to a lot of people, that's not my fault or my intention. I just do what I do, all of the time. I'm not going to argue about what is good art either, I am a person who didn't go to art school but I am able to make my living selling paintings. You can suggest that I spend hours on a painting to make it as best as it can be, where I don't add sides to the coffee table because I didn't feel like drawing those people's legs, but it's going to be lost on me. The fact that I relayed an idea that Morrissey went to a party with teenagers in small town Ohio (precisely Kent, where I went to college) is enough for me. I am glad about it.

But please don't think that I was making fun of him. That wasn't the case.

I liked it. Please don't worry about the predominance of humourless people on this site, who feel they need to protect Mozzer from playfulness, as if he wouldn't understand such a thing. I wonder how these people even understand his lyrics, which frequently contain... HUMOUR, and playfulness.
