Marksimpson.com has posted a chapter from James Maker's forthcoming memoir to follow up the excerpt posted last year about how Maker met Morrissey. This one is even funnier:

'Marksimpson.com is delighted to offer you an exclusive peek at '1976', a chapter from James Maker's forthcoming eye-wateringly agile memoir 'Autofellatio' revealing for the first time how the punk summer of 1976 actually began: with his suspension from grammar school for impersonating his mother. Jon Savage eat your heart out....'

  • I read the chapter, and...

I hate to say this, but it seems like it was ghostwritten by Morrissey and given to Maker as a gesture of friendship and as a way to get his work out there while retaining his privacy.

Why do I say this? Well, the style of writing matches the man's exactly. Anyone who's read the liner notes of "Under the Influence", or, to a lesser extent, "James Dean Is Not Dead" could attest to this.

Hmmm. Methinks it's Morrissey's work. But, before I forget, it's very, very good - I quite enjoyed it.

  • I just love James Maker...he's very sexy as well...and i'm very eager to get a copy of this book...

Raymonde was a great band... I love his voice on the Babelogue album (which ofcourse is very underestimated).. Especially "Been too many years" and Fool of Fortune" are very nice songs...

I like that Born that way song - was it with RPLA? - but i was petrified when i saw opening for Morrissey ... OH my God, that was bad...

    but still, he sexy... :)
