forum member "lucky lisp" took the photo at Manchester Airport. There's a note that he was travelling to Saudi Arabia.

Missed a photo-opp if true. Which I somehow doubt. More likely off to Dubai for some winter sun with footy mates? Connecting flight?

I wonder what the reaction at Riyadh/Mecca/Medina would have been to his Cross-Worshipping Catholic Priest dog-collar costumery?

Maybe he's about to convert to Islam and do an album with Cat Stevens, I mean Yusuf Islam!

What's 'Morrissey' in Arabic?

Am I really reading/posting this or have I slipped into a parallel reality after watching E at Birmingham Town Hall?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7113098.stm

Of course, in a related iteration of reality, I am Morrissey who is E who is Mooney. And we are all a collective mass on-line hallucination.

'His Dark Materials' indeed.

This 7.5% Zeppelin cider is good stuff! And cheap.

There's a presence about Morrissey that goes way beyond the argument over whether the man can be considered good looking vs niche pin-up or old vs young for his years. He simply demands to be looked at by his very demeanor. Not to mention the fact that his personality shines through the camera lens. Something quite rare in these troubled times of cultural vacancy.

Personally I think he looks very good for his age, especially in a sanitised world of botox and surgery where you must be ironed, plucked, bronzed and dipped in formaldehyde, or you're simply unpalatable. It especially vexes me that, despite the media claiming to represent ordinary, healthy people, the message women continue to receive about beauty is one of a George A Romero extra meeting an unfortunate accident with a vat of furniture wax and a bottle of bleach. Due to aggressive marketing techniques men are also succumbing to such trends; anorexia and steroid abuse has increased amongst young men in Britain, and I'm aghast at the number of male beauty products, something that was unthinkable a decade ago. Not to mention this drive to be as hairless as possible. Few women want gorillas, but we like a bit of something that signifies a man has hit puberty... plus the friction stops one from sliding off during more intimate moments.

So thank heaven for Morrissey, captivating for a face that looks as though he knows what life is about and a voice that tells you he really does. If he were in a lineup for potential dates I don't think there'd be any other celebrity that would cause me to hesitate in picking him out.
