  • Can't wait to see how the production has moved on from R.O.T.T: Now it's been made crystal clear that the decision to move on from Visconti was based on aesthetic considerations alone.
As for all the 'haters' going on about 'live B-sides': You should work in the Mu-Sick-Biz these days. This is all about 'building the buzz' for the next studio album.

Morrissey and Merck have to 'max it' to get Decca to stump up a decent whack for promoting the next album, it's NOT cynical exploitation:
It's the jungle of the Muse[sic]Business in 2007/2008. I know - because one of my best mates is at the epicentre of the whole meltdown.
And you wouldn't think it was funny if it was your paycheck on the line. Music Just Wants To Be Free? We'll see....Who's going to invest in music/film/written word artists in this climate of Pirate Bay, et al?

Oh, and for anyone that 'downloads these tracks 4 'free': Because they think Morrissey has 'too much money'-Please note that it's a new Moz/Boz record according to Lyn. I don't know how wealthy Boz is, but unless we're all prepared to be 'benevolent patrons' of artists we admire, we're effectively stealing from Boz's pension fund. And that of ALL of the other musicians, producers,road-crew who will make this further installment of the 'Miraculous Mirage of Morrissey' continue.

Yes, I confess I've done so, when I thought Shawn Fanning was a punk-rock rebel rather than just another cynical entrepreneur...

Radiohead have classified sales data of 'In Rainbows' as 'Top Secret': But they're going the 'physical product route' on New Year's Eve/Day.

I just wish we could have old style 12" artwork special edition. So much money and time spent on this by Morrissey and friends (just look at Peepholism!)But all we'll get 'for our trouble and pain'- and the princely sum of £1.99!: Is to squint at the credits, or to get out the magnifying glass! Double-gatefold Limited Edition Premium Priced Product in 12" Artwork. Come on Morrissey/Merck: You know it makes business sense!

I remain, your 'unreconstructed consumer-fetishist from the 1970s':

    Kind regards

The studio version sounds great! I need to hear the whole thing, but I prefer it over You Have Killed Me as far as first studio track released, though I know That's How is not going to be an album track.

  • The song is absolute shit.

What in the hell has happened to Morrissey's voice? The plaintive, nasally wailing comes across as pure parody. Of course, we get more of the never ending pub rock mix that sounds incredibly artificial. However, this time it seems that they attempted veil it behind a wall of overproduced noise.

This paint by numbers formula is embarrassing, and the fact that so many fans support this drivel shows how strong Morrissey's mind control is over his followers.

There is much better music being made out there right now than this studio hatched, formulaic crap. Morrissey has ceased being an artist and has become nothing more than a jingle man factory.

Of course, his fans will keep giving to the Church of Morrissey, and we will continue to get nothing but mailed-in results from him because of this blind devotion.

Morrissey could sample his bowel movement, and people on here would champion it as a work of pure genius.

There are no artistic surprises with Morrissey any more. Ever since Southpaw Grammar the man has become absolutely predictable.

The majority of you need to grow a spine, and denounce this tripe. Fanboys.

  • I was sort of disappointed by the song (the clip of it). I wasn't crazy about the song itself to begin with, altho it is certainly catchy. But it seems to me that it sounded better live than in this studio version. I thought a few of the YATQ songs were that way too, that they sounded better live than in the studio. I hope the new album is better, but I have to say that my hopes are not too high at this point.

  • This is unfathomable. I just cannot believe that Viva is now a -1 status; first when I encountered Viva I was initially confused regarding why he had a 0 next to his registered name - while everyone else who had a registered name had a 1. Now tonight when I staggered back from the pubs from consuming many a pint and I stumbled on line while I cannot see so good but I was like what the hell -- Viva is now a -1. This makes absolutely no sense and I know I’ll probably be next as I‘m defending him, like I give a fuck. The point I am attempting to coherently address here is why do not the people that threaten Morrissey, people who psychologically abuse Morrissey and all of the people like Heaton the whore -- why don’t they get hidden and you have to find their posts in a secret ... Why are Viva’s posts in a secret hidden place but this psycho who I responded to who bulldozered Morrissey to the ground earlier tonight (look above to number #54 if I recall right regarding Jingle Bells) ... Sooo me thinks me shall be next to be downloaded to a hidden secret -1, this is like 5th grade. Put Viva back to number 1 where he belongs and put the proper psychological abusers and the ones who are threatening Morrissey’s life to the secret -1 status although they belong in investigations and jails. I can’t see so good so I am shutting up for now.
I will see you in -1 places Viva

    Thank You and Good Night

  • I think That's How People Grow Up is a masterpiece and I think that it is one of Morrissey's most mesmerizing, genius songs. I also think that Boz is awesome … and I never use to care about the band but after a few months of watching "Who Put the M in Manchester", I have accumulated a new liking for Boz. This is very strange, because, because even when I would go to all of Morrissey's shows, I really never acknowledged the band (except for when Deano was the drummer) but now after watching "Who Put the M in Manchester" thousands of times I have now, now come to see the light with regards to Boz. So now Boz and Merck are on my "people to like" list. But Morrissey can never be replaced. Morrissey is the only one I have loved, I do love, and shall always love {unconditionally … for evermore}

By the way does anyone know who the cute guy is that keeps reaching for Morrissey's hand in the DVD?

  • Even over an internet stream one can hear that Jerry Finn's crisp production is back, and it's a welcome return after T. Visconti's murky, muddy textures...Moz's voice has been cured of the slap effect and sounds better placed in the mix...this is actually a strong tune with interesting chord changes (thank you, Boz) and some nice sonic touches (thanks, Mike Farrell)...now the only problem are Moz's utterly dreadful lyrics, which sound as if they were dashed off on a cocktail napkin (he really must try harder). Nevertheless, a welcome return the "Quarry"-style sonic attack.

  • ...sings Moz, and to me too! What a terrible single. A 3rd track on a bonus CD single at best? The music is ok,but the lyrics are terrible,as someone else said, he really must try harder.Or is it we are so brainwashed now that he knows the die-hards will just go and buy regardless? Just like the diehards will turn up at the shows enlarging the one thing ,apart from ego, that matters to Moz, his bank balance. OK I expect to get attacked the people who hate to hear anything said against Moz but come on??? Do you really think he is coming up with the goods?? Vauxhall was an amazing LP,Southpaw was patchy,Maladjusted was tame,Quarry was a great comeback,ROTT 2 decent songs...If this is a taster of the next album it does not look good. I have the Moz tatoo,I have slept on airport floors and done my diehard bit myself, but am now slowly starting to resent Moz's 'that'll do' attitude.
