Night and Day Friday the 9th of March. Night and Day. No. 26 Oldham Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester M1 1JN CONTACT: ANDY ELLISON for more info 07966284068 Email [email protected] Some say the forerunners and Godfathers of punk, JOHN'S CHILDREN took rock and roll to the edge……and then stepped over.
The stories and myths surrounding the band, dressed all in white, with
their anarchic and devil may care attitude, fashioned a legend that has surpassed many other bands. To add to this they had a young guitarist by the name of MARC BOLAN. This being Marc's first Band. He died in a fatal car crash in1977. Today JC' is joined by MORRISSEY'S incendiary guitarist, BOZ BOORER. CHRIS TOWNSON still thrashes out the Drums. PHIL KING from the JESUS AND MARY CHAIN provides bass guitar and the hyperkinetic, acrobatic and wild frontman ANDY ELLISON (also from the high-energy punk band RADIO STARS) is on Vocals……and probably lot of other things. WHAT TO EXPECT. loud, unpredictable, very slippy, (goggles provided),(please bring suitable clothing), rampant psycho-delia, nudity, cream teas, random acts of mindful violence and a smattering of Marc Bolans early songs with JC, Desdemona, Midsummer nights scene, Sara crazy child etc. Please bring your own drugs. No feathers!! Back in 1967 they created a shattering wall of sound from their 18 Jordan amplifiers. A huge tribal drum beat from a double Slingerland drum kit, an acrobatic singer (who was stage diving back in 1967) and a young guitarist by the name Marc Bolan who in a frenzy of feedback would slash the stage with chains. Something had to give, and it finally did at the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle Ludwigschafen, whilst on a German tour with the Who. The 15,000 seater stadium was witness to an evening of unbridled mayhem. As Chris Townson hammered out an incessant beat on his double Slingerland drum kit and Marc Bolan began thrashing his guitar with chains, Andy Ellison somersaulted off stage and ran wild among the startled audience, showering the place with feathers. Suddenly chairs were flying through the stadium like missiles A full scale riot ensued and there was an almighty surge to the front of the stage. The band somehow made it out of a side door and back stage. Ellison with all his clothes in shreds Townson falling into view with the imprint of a jackboot on his chest. Scrambling through a back door and into their manager Simon Napier Bell's Bentley they screamed off into the night. As the band sped off the riot police were already strafing the upper windows with water canons. The bands equipment was confiscated by the German police. Booted off the tour and then deported. There is an article on this legendary rock event in next months April Uncut Magazine titled 'You had to be there'.

They didn't play for very long but I'm not surprised. Andy Ellison is pretty old, he probably had to have his cocoa.
Boz has lost a bit of weight by the way, he looked to be having fun.
Anyway, the singer was bounding around the stage. He kept wandering off down the back of the room, dancing on the bar etc etc. At one point he climbed over to the other side of the bar & started helping himself to soft drinks. Putting the pump right in his mouth, GROSS! I thought the barmaid was going to punch him. So he apologised to her. Yes, punk is dead.
There weren't many people there. The support act 'Tycoons Follies' were excellent.
