It's really laughable, do "they" still listen to Morrissey? Hang on, maybe itv is also planning to make a SouthBank Show on Depeche Mode and The Cure therefore, saving time. It must be gahstly being a Greaser under LA's scallding SOL.

Ive seen MOZZ in many US cities,some with large latino populations and only ever seen a handful of latinos in attendance,Seems odd.I work with guys who hail from El Salador,Mexico and Columbia and I asked them about Morrissey and none of them knew who he was! I once saw a mexican kid with a smiths shirt on downtown in Las Vegas,but thats it,I must be missing something.

The South Bank interviews are pure quality and Melvyn Bragg has a knack of facilitating easy-flowing conversations. This will be a must-view show, absolutely.

As a Latino Morrissey fan who once lived in East Los Angeles, I too must say that this is getting old. Many of these so called latino "fans" know nothing about Morrissey and his music and only claim to be fans because they liked a handful of songs they heard at some hole in the wall club in Hollywood. It's gotten to the point where people in LA question how much of a fan I really am just because I don't sport a Ridiculously huge Pompadour and roll the cuffs of my jeans and sleeves. Liking Moz's music is just that. It doesn't have to be a freaking lifestyle people!!

I'm Latino myself and I agree this whole latino fan base is exagerrated. Yeah I see a good number of latinos at Moz concerts but from experience there are way more Latino Depeche Mode fans out there. What annoys me is that from previous posts there's always racist undercurrent to some of these posts when it concerns Moz and his latino fanbase.

The whole "Latino Moz Fan" obsession is pretty racist. There is always the not-so-subtle subtext: can you believe that THESE people like Morrissey? Where do they find the time to listen to his music between pimping their cars, getting tattoos in Old English lettering, and saying "Esse" all the time?

Nonsense.

I want to see a documentary about good-looking/well-adjusted/athletic types who listen to Morrissey. I mean really, what meaning do THOSE people find in his lyrics?

I don't know about anyone else, but I've sent off an email to itv letting them know that this old thing has been done to death and no one is interested anymore. I suggest you do the same. They should be celebrating the legions of loyal fans and those that are new to the music as well. Not just one portion of the admirers. That's a slap in the face to the rest of us.

Why can't it concentrate on his albums and his collaborators. I bet the interview with Boz (if there is one this time) will probably be one quote about the NFD scandal.

We want an in-depth conversation with Morrissey about what HE thinks the themes of his work are (not interested in what Miranda Sawyer or Ken Doddd think) plus conversations with various key collaborators like Boz, Alain and the new members of the band.

And we want it now.

Wonder if Life Is A Pigsty will be out as a single to um "coincide" HA HA. Big internet push everyone and we can now get Mozzer in the charts!

2. Chicanos/Latinos continue to be marginalized

6. Know your history before you get on websites

Moz ain't there anymore - he's moved on.

Has it really been 20 years since the last South Bank show? My oh my how time flies. I'm feeling really old now.

As part of their brief those putting together the show will want to give an overview of Morrissey’s audience, but also, for depth, to concentrate on one section. Is it so far beyond the realms of possibility that Morrissey himself suggested it? As the recent Russell Brand interview was winding up Brand suddenly digressed to mention the Mexican audience. It was, in my imagination, as if Morrissey had tapped the crib sheet to indicate that the subject should not be overlooked.

I look forward to the programme as an indication of how the Arts establishment views Morrissey’s contribution and influence over the last 25 years. Interested because Morrissey spent so much of the recent XFM interview emphasising how much outside of the music industry and mainstream thinking he believes he is. As the perpetual outsider, observing, documenting and commenting on the world as he sees it.

Hmmmm.. I do hope we get greater depth of analysis than in “The importance of being Morrissey”. This depends on whether Morrissey relies on his established reputation to tell the story or stretches himself beyond that to allow a fuller understanding of the Whys, Hows, etc…. that have brought him to the present day.

Not playing the media circus has had a price. Lazy journalism has tended to present a caricature, I’d be pleased to see the record set straight.

I have been thinking about this for a while. I know that this is a very well regarded and respected TV show here in the UK.

Let's hope that they can somehow avoid mention of the Smith's - and the fanbase of 20 years ago - and concentrate on some much more important matters like Morrissey's career and music right now (and for at least 50 mins out of 64 minutes.)

Showing and talking about Morrissey's talent, individualism, integrity, strength and quality is going to be a difficult job. And then to have all that backed up by his amazing catalogue of amazing songs is going to be a very VERY difficult job.

It would be nice to see a short interview with Boz as part of this production. Boz has produced some great musical arrangements over the past few years. He has helped to shape the Morrissey that we all see/here today and he has also kept the band together despite several hurdles, press criticism in the early days and the unfortunate departures, turning each one into new opportunity for the band to move forward. And then, despite all of this, Boz is still very much the Boz that we see on stage. Not just an amazing guitarist, but he is a very talented musician. This time, Boz truly deserves a slice of these 15 minutes as well.

Best Wishes to the production team. Let's hope that they are concentrating on making Morrissey happy. If they do, then it will all turn out splendid but it is not an easy job and it needs a producer with some guts and determination.

And advice ? Well, nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.
