    GMEX is great! (Score:0)
Fantastic news - GMEX is a great venue and iconic building. I'm ashamed to say I saw both Depeche Mode and Crowded House there in the mid-90s, and enjoyed both. Can't think of a better person to inaugurate it as a music venue again.

G-mex has the worst acoustics I've ever witnessed. I remember when The Smiths played in 1986, the echo that bounced around the building was silly at times. The place is huge though, so if you are offered seated tickets near the back, i'd consider whether or not it's worth the best part of £40.

I'm hoping that he uses the place like Ally Pally in London, with everyone standing.

        Meltdown performances (Score:0)
You'd think at Meltdown Morrissey might have extended his repertoire and perhaps done a couple of 'by the baby grand' torch songs, covers or even duets, but no - same old same old.

Morrissey seems to be holding back a few of his Smiths classics so he can throw them into future tours, to maintain interest as his latest record receives its by-now-de-rigeur luke warm reception. Well, a thought occurs to me. If Morrissey is planning on retiring soon rather than putting out yet another borderline awful (but just listenable) midpaced rock record, why not make this a 'greatest hits' tour? ALl the unplayed gems can be pulled out, like teeth.

Rather than the bland set-list above, how about this?

1 The Teachers Are Afraid of the Pupils
        2 The Operation
3 First of the Gang to Die
        4 Angel
        5 Handsome Devil
6 You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side
        7 TLOTFIPs
8 The Boy With The Thorn
9 Dear God Please Help Me
        10 Pretty Girls Make Graves
        11 Last Night I Dreamt
        12 Spring Heeled Jim
        13 Seasick Yet Still Docked
14 self-indulgent cover version by a moderately good, though critically overlooked band
        15 Lifeguard Sleeping, Girl Drowning
        16 The Queen is Dead
Morrissey introduces the band using a series of sub-Whitely puns and local references
17 not a very good early solo b-side
        18 Irish Blood, English Heart
        encore: I Know It's Over

now wouldn't that be infinitely preferable to the dross we know he's going to play at the G-Mex?

        Anyway, it's just a suggestion.

        Ever yours,

        Your beloved,

If, like me, you are tired of watching touts grab all the tickets? Act now.

I want all fans to get the tickets they want, and have a problem with tout scum using children to barge the queues. This time, we can put a serious spanner in the works, and it's simple.

Tickets go on sale 9am on Friday, when children should be in school. Touts give them cigs and Mcdonalds to swallow up all the tickets. This is illegal, but your average joe cop won't do anything. However, if you contact your local councils Truancy Officer, they can turn up, with police, who basically take the children, contact parents & schools to ascertain if they have genuine reasons to be away from school. If you do this, the touts will be well out of sight.
