Yesterday Jared Leto (My So Called Life) caught an AOL reporter off-guard by suddenly announcing he was gay. Clearly surprised,the reporter seemed unsure if Leto was kidding or not. When he revisited the question, Leto compared himself to rock musician Morrissey, another singer known for his vagueness around his sexuality. The blogs are burning up with discussions over whether Leto is serious. There is cause for doubt as seveal years ago Leto joked with a writer from Out Magazine about being gay.
So is Leto gay or not? Who knows? If he is, I hope he stops playing games and comes out already. And if he's not gay, but is only trying to drum up for attention for his band's new album, I hope the first single tanks like George Bush's approval ratings.
Update:
I spent the morning tracking down Jared's publicist trying to find out whether he was actually coming out or not. Robin Baum, Jared's publicist response is: "Jared was kidding."

ThirtySecondLeto: We are friends and that’s it. nothing more, nothing less. no weddings or divorces or children on the way.
