Just spotted this in the tv listings... Andy Rourke is going to be a guest on "Nevermind The Buzzcocks", which will be shown on BBC2 on Monday 17th April (9pm) and repeated on the same channel on Saturday 22nd April (10.30pm).

The guest host is Huey Morgan from Fun Lovin' Criminals, and the other guests are a bunch of people I've never heard of. Bill Bailey and Phill "I could be Boz Boorer's long-lost cousin" Jupitus are the team captains as usual.

Looks like everyone's favourite comedy rockabilly, Mark Lamarr, is still off-air. "Nevermind the Buzzcocks" just isn't the same without his loud suits and sarcasm.

Andy Rourke is to guest as one of the panelists on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Easter Monday BBC2 at 9.00pm. Other guests are Natalie Cassidy, Sheila Ferguson, and Reginald D Hunter. Hosted by Fun Lovin' Criminal, Huey Morgan I suppose we'll get to see who's the real charismatic member of The Smiths. I know where my money is...

  • It's maybe just as well that Mark Lamarr no longer presents '...Buzzcocks', for I feel that if he was in charge tonight then the show would be one huge Morrissey-bashing Fest.

As much as I like Lamarr's cutting sense of humour, he has a rather cowardly way of going about things. He'll sit there and say REALLY offensive things about people he hates (Chris Moyles, Jimmy Carr, Geri Halliwell, Elton etc)which is a bit soft when the people aren't there to respond or defend themselves.
He's slagged Morrissey off a couple of times over the past series, so I'm sure if he was in charge tonight he'd be getting Andy to bang on and on about the court case.

I've no idea what Huey Morgan thinks of Morrissey but I'm still expecting some negative verbiage to be heading Mozzer's way.

  • No mention of Moz, Rourke didn't say much anyway.

There was a funny moment when Bill Bailey asked what was in his mug and he said methadone...

In the 'Next lines' bit of the quiz they used a line from 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now', and Rourke got it of course, whilst doing this sort of flowery melodramatic gesture.

  • Not a big fan of the show only watched because Rourke was on, he looked uncomfortable at some points, like when everyone ran off when someone shouted bird flu and he didnt, good for him, because that gag just isnt funny.

  • Buzzcocks has some terrible guests but he's up there with the worst. Totally out of step with everything going on around him.

  • Why hasn't this show been axed yet?

When introducing Rourke the host Huey Morgan (he used to be in the band...oh, it doesn't matter) said that on his way to the court case against Morrissey he made a point of going to the butchers, joke shop and leather warehouse. Hilarious. Not.

Vile show, vile people on it. Also, very homophobic to boot.

I didn't think any human being on the planet could be more offensive than Mark Lamarr- I was wrong. Huey is just as offensive as his music.

Andy was wearing tinted glasses- vile.

Its so funny- Morrissey's highlight of 2006 is releasing Ringleader...Andy's is appearing on Nevermind the Buzzcocks! Morrissey must be beaming!

  • Well.....how dull was this?

Rourke contributed virtually nothing to the show. He seemed prtty befuddled at times, and when the whole cast ran off the set after Bill shouted "BIRD FLU"....he just sat there, on his own.

When Huey was introducing the guests he reffered to the court case as being "After Andy was sacked...". Er....correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't The Smiths split up? I don't recall Rourke being sacked, except briefly for his smack habit in 1985.
