Working in the music industry I have access to the midweek chart and I can now tell you that after Monday's sales Morrissey holds the number two position, just behind the download version of Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' but only marginally above the current number one held by Ne-Yo who has slipped to number three. It's likely Moz will lose the number two position by Sunday but only by one or two places at the very most.

  • most morrissey hardcore fans will have bought it on monday. IBEH was in a similar lofty position - the difference is IBEH was much more radio-friendly so I think sales might slip off a little more with this one.

I predicted number 3-4 and I'm sticking with that.

  • IBEH was not more radio friendly though. it sounded pretty awkward on the radio. too many quiet bits, not a strong enough melody and only 2 choruses.

You Have Killed is much better on the radio and is doing better in the airplay chart (in top 30; Irish Blood didn't make the top 50 at all).

Neither is as good as First of the Gang. Wonder if Moz will ever again sing a song which is quite as upbeat and catchy?

  • James, how far behind the Crazy song? 100? More like 1000?
