The new Morrissey album will be reviewed by Dave Fanning on Irish radio tonight (Tuesday 07th March). Tune in to 2FM from 6pm to 7.30pm. Dave will play some tracks off the album (on his previous shows he played 'You Have Killed Me','Life Is A Pigsty'). 'Ringleader' will take up a big chunk of his radio show tonight.

  • Dave & co built up through encouraging references to the impending review throughout, played DGPHM fairly early, and finally at the end of the programme, discussed the album for a few minutes (though Dave Fanning is a true quick-draw with words himself!) after playing "The Youngest was the Most Loved". Nobody in the studio, and I don't think any of the texters, had any comment that was less than effusive and in awe about it, especially about the voice and language of the lyrics. A thousand Irish welcomes then, bestowed on ROTT!

  • As an aside, the female half of the reviewing team (I think she was in "The Commitments" film) told a story about a friend of hers who was part of a group out on the town with Morrissey in Dublin a few years ago. They ended up in a nightclub. Moz was appalled by what he saw and requested a taxi be ordered so he could leave the place as soon as possible. The friend said to him "Come on, Morrissey, are you a man or a mouse?", to which Moz replied "I am a mouse... and proud of it!"

    Made me smile, anyway.

  • Okay, so Dave Fanning exaggerated how much time he'd spend talking about Moz. Who cares? I was hoping they would play another track or two, but I'm happy with 'Dear God....' and 'The Youngest...'. Hearing the songs is better than listening to another person's opinion (i.e. review) of the album anyway. Can't wait to get the album. If you didn't think the show was worth listening to then put your Westlife cd back on your ipod, I think I smell it burning.

  • The band entertainingly covering The Smiths and Morrissey music are playing Temple Bar Music Centre, Dublin this Saturday night 11th March for whom it may concern. Check gigguide in www.tbmc.ie for details. Bet they'll have something to say about, if not play from, the new album!
