Morrissey Befriends The Fonz - contactmusic.com

Former THE SMITHS frontman MORRISSEY has formed an unlikely friendship with HAPPY DAYS actor HENRY WINKLER. The former ARTHUR 'FONZIE' FONZARELLI has become one of the singer's biggest fans. Winkler says, "Morrissey recently came to my house for dinner. We met through my stepson JED, who is Morrissey's tour manager, and hit it off. I like him and he's an extraordinary performer. "I've seen him on stage and I've heard the new album (RINGLEADER OF THE TORMENTORS) - which is great."

  • And Henry Winkler is a very nice, down to earth individual. He always makes a point to say hello, even if he is caught in the middle of something.
Such a unique and kind individual he is.

  • The Fonz was my hero when I was 6, way back in 1980... The thought of Henry Winkler and Moz having dinner makes me smile.

  • cute. jed brought morrissey home to meet the parents. this is a serious step in any relationship.

    kidding, but it's probably true.

with that said, i've met henry winkler several times and he's always been a very sweet fellow. one of the most humble people in the entertainment industry.

If Moz did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.
  • Jed Weitzman is Winkler's stepson?

Or could Morrissey just happen to know two Jed's?

Yes. There was a picture from the pre-Quarry days of Jed and The Fonz posted on the message board maybe a year ago.

I think Winkler was at one of the Quarry L.A. gigs, too.

  • Any time I've seen a blog pick up a story from them, the blog's comment section is later filled with corrections of the item's content and with people expressing surprise that anyone takes contactmusic seriously.

  • It was reported that Henry was at at least one of the Wiltern shows in L.A. when Moz played there last.

I used to have a "Fonz for Prez" shirt when i was a kid. LOL!

  • I've never met the man. I know him from tv, movies, and the best school movie I ever had to see. (When he interviews William Shakespeare)

Seeing Henry Winkler outside of Happy Days, you realize he is one of the greatest actors of all times. There isn't one person on Earth who didn't think the Fonz was cool when that show was on. Henry Winkler, not as the Fonz, is the most humble, disarming person you could ever see. Again, I haven't met the man, just heard lots of interviews and stories.

For Morrissey and Henry to get together is one of the times the stars in the galaxy aligned together properly. May their friendship blossom.

  • I hope the Moz will be able to "hold his own" with the ladies, especailly given the Fonz and his fondness for twins!

Moz may have to trade in the pink scooter for a "real" bike and I am hoping that he does not hurt his wrist while hitting the Juke Box!

FACT "I won't share you" was written about the relationship between Fonz and Richie with "Girl afraid" painting the sad and sorry story of Joannie and Potsy.

  • For those who question Arthur Fonzerelli's place in American pop culture then it may interest you to know that Fonzie's leather jacket hangs in the Smithsonian in Washington, DC.

So a Winkler and Morrissey friendship is a cool thing indeed.

  • ...was only cool because he hung out with nerds and idiots. He pretended to be a biker but you never saw him with his biker pals, only trying to impress bookish people down at Arnolds who these days would be internet programmers or something.

He was older than them too. So he tried to be cool by hanging out with nerdy children. And his office was a toilet.

For shame! Even I could be considered cool if I chose to hang out with a load of socailly inept teenagers studying physics down at the local cafe.
