Andy Rourke has been interviewed by Talk Sport (UK independant radio station 1053/1089am) that will be aired on Sunday 8th January on a show between 10pm -1am Monday morning. Tonight on the same station on the Adrian Durham show (he is a huge fan of The Smiths) they played a small piece from the interview. Durham said that 3/4 of The Smiths will be appearing at the Manchester v Cancer show organised by Rourke - Rourke, Marr and Joyce (though Rourke didn't confirm Joyce would be there).
Asked if there would be a Smiths song played, Andy said 'well, there might be 'How soon is now?' - but dont tell Johnny I said that'.
Why not play 'Oscillate Wildly' as you dont need Morrissey there' was the next question.
'Ha ha, not thought of that, that's an idea!' Rourke replied. When asked if Morrissey would be turning up, the reply was 'I dont think so, we didn't think it was worth asking...'

And despite how scummy the rhythm section may or may not be, they (and Johnny moreso, of course) had a signifcant part in shaping the songs of The Smiths.
Same with New Order playing Joy Division songs. Let 'em. Fuck it. Moz plays Smiths songs solo.

Johnny certainly can't tackle 'How Soon Is Now?' by himself...

Surely Rourke's comment "But don't tell Johnny I said that" is a little bit of a give away.

Shame on you Johnny and Mike - two upstanding and moral citizens again fraternizing with a junkie.

All of them top line ! The Smiths greater than the sum of their parts.
Has Marr made up with Joyce? (Score:0)
Surel there's an obvious point being missed here. (Score:0)
"Andy and his new company, Great Northern Productions Ltd decided to group together to raise £1million to fund cancer research at Manchester’s Christie Hospital, Europe’s largest cancer treatment and research centre."
Moz won't support this good cause because he doesn't think it is a good cause.
