Shakes To Break writes:
According to the last week's NME the same one Moz appeared on the cover of The Queen Is Dead is being re-released:

The Smiths best album gave the world 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side', 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out', 'I Know It's Over' and er 'Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others'.

To buy or not to buy?

Update: 12/30 00:35 GMT: As pointed out in the comments, this is a reissue wish list by NME, not actual news of a reissue.

  • Not how I read it anyway. It appears in a list of songs that deserve to be reissued.

  • That was a WISH LIST of items they would like to see re-released. They also mentioned Beck's 'Odelay' amd The Strokes' 'Is This It'. TQID is not being reissued so ignore this story.

  • additional rare tracks? are the songs getting remastered?

I guess for people who only have it on vinyl, here's their chance to get it on CD.

    otherwise, I wouldn't get it.

  • Not if Mike Joyce is going to be getting all of the royalties, & i hope others will refuse to buy it too. I'll burn my copy for people if they want it!

  • TQID will NOT be reissued in 2006. The list was merely a 'wish list' by the NME writer.

To repeat, NME did NOT claim that TQID will be re-released in 2006.

  • "The Queen Is Dead" is still in print. Some people need to put their glasses on when reading the NME.

  • Wasn't there an article a couple months ago that stated Warner Bros. was coming out with a Smiths box set for 2006?

If so, TQID would probably get "reissued" (digitally remastered) and put with the other reissued albums in the set.

  • It would be a great reason to get TQID reissued and remastered with bonus tracks. I'm sure that under 'normal' circumstances it would be reissued, but with the Moz/Joyce feud I think it is not going to happen.

Another great 1986 album, Born Sandy Devotional by The Triffids, will be reissued, remastered and with bonus tracks, early in 2006, for those interested.
