After dubbing them "the new Smiths" in their festival guide a couple of weeks ago, the NME described new London band The Boyfriends' music as a "mix (of) the stylish pomp of The Smiths with the ramshackle clutter of the Buzzcocks" in last week's Glastonbury preview issue. The Boyfriends became the first band to ever play the new John Peel Stage at the festival yesterday and an early review in The Independent today has described how they "warmed people's hearts with a Smiths-style racket." Perhaps worth investigation by Smiths/Mozheads. There are free mp3s available on their website, www.theboyfriends.com
