Early this year I saw "New York Doll" at the Sundance film festival. The fantastic documentary about the life of Arthur Kane, and his reunification with his band the New York Dolls at Morrissey Meltdown Festival.

It is now back and ready to be seen at this years LA Film Festival. The documentary features Morrissey interviews, as well as Iggy Pop, The Pretenders and a few others. It is not to be missed. Arthur and the Dolls make for a fantastic story, and this documentary is highly recommended for any music fan. There are only 2 showings, and it is often hard to get tickets to anything at the LA Film Fest. Visit www.lafilmfest.com and do a search for New York Doll.

  • Will any of you all be there? Surely Moz won't, unfortunately - it's likely to be a gathering place for all rabid fans (not that this is a bad thing in and of itself, but still).

  • And he talked about how he had 5 pages of questions to ask Morrissey but was told he only had 18 minutes with Moz, so he wound up only asking him like 3. He also said that his crew set up early and Moz's people keep coming in and out, checking the monitors and lighting and the set. So when Morrissey finally came in Greg Whiteley (the filmmaker) said Morrissey matched the set perfectly and that he looked like a million bucks.
