We just have a tenuous business relationship." --- Uncleskinny also writes: A journalist contacted me saying he himself had been asked by the Moz camp to convey to the fans that this reunion isn't going to happen. That is, unless, this is Moz' last tour, as he seems to be hinting at at the end of the concerts he's played in Boston and Phillie.
Does anyone R E A L L Y see Moz putting out another album in the next 3 or 4 years? By the time he'd tour with it he'd be 50 or older. Perhaps his ego is too big to strut around a stage at that point. I am truly worried this is the last of Moz. Thoughts?

3. This was supposed to be his big comeback, and I think he might be realizing that from here, there's no where to go but down.
4. Ending his solo career wouldn't mean ending his contribution to music. He has the Attack label now, it would make sense for him to change his focus to finding quality young bands.
5. He has to have time to work on his autobiography!

a) that this 'comeback' has seen a superb tour, but, for me at any rate, a lacklustre album, despite the odd shining moment. Musically, I feel he'll have gone out on a whimper if he ends it now. Yes, he had big hits, but to be honest, if the comparative mediocrity of YATQ is to be his last word, then his solo career will not in future be regarded as especially successful musically outside the hardcore few. 'Your Arsenal' and 'Vauxhall and I' remain brilliant, as does half of 'Viva Hate' and, of course, a number of stray singles and b-sides. But stacked up against that you have several dubious compilations, Kill Uncle, Maladjusted, Southpaw Grammer and the (IMO) slightly average YATQ. That's half of his solo career. The point is, he still has more to give, I feel, especially if he wants to be remembered as an artist whose solo career was more than just two excellent albums and four average to poor ones. Remember that history will not judge him on his b-sides as we often do.
2. There are many, many respected veteran artists - and I mean respected by the young too. Age need not compute with humiliation. Of course, in some people's eyes, he'll be past it, but who cares about them? I remember about six years ago a group of us, who were then 19/20, were talking in awe about BB King - and he was 60 something even then. Point is, Morrissey's catalogue is formidable - he already has the basis for this respect by means of the brilliance of The Smiths and his early solo work. Everyone laughs at the Stones, but at the same time every young person I know who's into rock/indie respects Keith Richards - why, because he's Keith fucking Richards. But more importantly, there are artists whose MUSIC remains respected in their old(er) age - Dylan, the late, great Cash, Nick Cave, the late Ray Charles, BB King, Leonard Cohen ('Dear Heather', his latest, is an album of the year and no mistake) the late John Lee Hooker, Solomon Burke, etc, etc. Point is, age need not mean you become an outmoded laughing stock. My mates when they were 18 - those who considered themselves to be "into" music would always respect those people listed above. Morrissey can achieve this, he has taste and style. Moreover, he makes the kind of music to sustain his career for far longer. 'Vauxhall' is the kind of record he could have made in his 30s, as he did, or in his 50s - there's little on there that is time specific, which is why it will continue to remain superb and viable. Someone like Tony Hadley is laughed at because he trades in on past glories, sings his old (not very good) songs and tries to behave like he was still that age. But Moz knows better than that.
Now, obviously, it's up to Moz - if he wants to quit, it can't be stopped. But really, touring aside (and he need not do this) there's no reason for it. Why can't Morrissey enlighten us about the experience of getting older with the same wit and pathos with which he approaches other subjects - after all, we're all gonna get older with him. He can have gravitas, like Johnny Cash. I bought 'American III, Solitary Man' three years ago, when I was 23. I was utterly fucking blown away by JC's covers of 'The Mercy Seat' and 'I See A Da

Morrissey needs to feel the love, as Darius would put it, and in seating venues where it seems the hardcore are not at the front he ain't getting it.
He won't retire from touring, just be more selective in the areas and venues he plays..such as LA and South California and obviously the UK.
I cannot imagine him stopping playing shows in regions where his fans are, whilst not crazy, are imbued with a certain fanaticism towards him.
I also doubt whether Sanctuary would have allowed him to sign a one album deal... if he breaks his contract (which I doubt he will considering the relative success of YATQ) then expect more live dates to cover the court costs!
So in conclusion he may stop touring, but not playing live dates. He certainly won't retire from music as its in his blood and he may even make another Queen Is Dead, with Johnny, Andy and Mike. And pigs may fly.
