Another moz story in the The Manchester Evening News. This time an author claims to be getting death threats following his 'warts and all' biography of Moz. A US based fan site is mentioned, but not named...

  • If it works, let the rest of us know how you did it.

  • Why would anyone care to threaten an uninteresting character like David Bret?

  • He reckons someone pulled a knife on him at a moz gig. I find the suggestion laughable that Morrissey fans are carrying knives with them to gigs. He sounds like a bullshitter to me.

  • Yeah, Moz fans all tooled up, going around asking random members of the audience "are you David Bret?". This is just nonsense.

So Bret got slagged off on this site. Good, because his last book was rubbish. The point is though that most Moz authors have been slagged off at some point - Johnny Rogan, Simon Goddard, Mark Simpson - they all get a pasting from time to time on sites like this where fans can express their opinions. But do THEY go scampering to the police or the MEN with bullshit conspiracy theories that their lives are in danger?

No. Only David Bre(n)t who yet again has proved what a laughing stock he is. And now he expects us to buy his book of 'scandal' on the singer we love? He really is deluded.

This crude stunt will backfire horribly and Bret should be ashamed of himself for exploiting sites like this and the sometimes extreme opinions of fans as cheap publicity.

  • Bre(n)t needs to get his arse over to this site and tell us a few reasons we might find his 'rag' interesting rather than complaining from afar that he is shocked that he's been slagged off on this site by people who haven't even read his book.

If he is not going to enagage us I predict only one death, and that is Bre(n)t's book.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is Senna's Lotus sounding rough?
  • What a cry baby. It's the internet! I think it's a publicity stunt. Now that I have read that article, I won't buy his book.

  • the book's just out and it's already incomplete.

Ah - little rest for the wicked.

  • Dear Jim,

I've 'retired' so don't blame me.

    --Orenthal

Let me get this straight: Was it a threat from a fan, or Morrissey himself? We all know that he doesn't take too kindly to people who either wrote damaging books, or have managed to piss him off any other way.

    Dear David Brent,

Take it from us, Morrissey is not to be messed with.

    Sincerely,

Julia Child, Andy Rourke, Mike Joyce, Elton John, Johnny Rogan, Dubya, and Ronald McDonald.

    ...and how?
  • I remember a couple of months ago at the height of the "Dubbya furore" some goon threatening to kill Morrissey himself in far more specific and explicit language than that quoted about Brett in the article here. Why were no prosecutions sought over this?

No doubt this was just macho, unplesant postturing as well, but that's not the point. Either write both off as saddoes fantasising, or go after them both.

  • I doubt anyone could give a monkey's about what the 2nd rate Brent has to say so the death threat issue is laughable - however, i'll bet there are one or two people around who wouldn't mind giving the fat-faced John Harris a bit of a dig if you were to pass him in a badly lit subway, or possibly walking by a deep, dirty canal.

Would you like to note my inside-leg?
  • i wonder if david brent gave the "quotes" at the same time he placed the story?

of course it has been advised to contact the police and the media when threatened. what a dope.

this is a cheap publicity stunt and nothing more. nice try, we're still not buying it.
