Morrissey was just given the puppet treatment on the British comedy series Bo'Selecta. It wasn't particularly inspired; he was just very miserable. I only caught some of it so could someone else fill in the gaps? By the way, Bo'Selecta is a rather surreal, and occasionally funny, series which features celebrity-mad "Avid Merrion" and a host of parodies of famous people. --- Nick also writes: "Asexual Morrissey" or a man in a Morrissey mask made a comic appearance on Channel 4's Bo Selecta Friday night in the UK. Amusing. --- JamesR also writes: Moz made a mainstream popular show tonight when he was represented on Bo Selecta! on Channel 4 after Big Brother. For those who don't know what this is, it's a (slightly tasteless?) comedy in the UK with one guy playing a number of parts with oversized puppet-type features. It's usually quite on the ball with what's popular, and the fact that Moz has made an appearance is good credit to him... It was a quiz-show type sketch with an (I think) sexuality theme, in which he was described as 'Asexual Morrissey'. This is quite a nod to his popularity at the moment!

Anyway, they all held up a piece of card showing that they had all guessed the same word 'Fudge Packer'.
I'm a massive fan of the show and it isn't to be deabated or taken seriously. The characters are based only visually on the celebs and the personalities are totally reinvented so that a completely different persona is created, usually working class with loose morals and bad language. Mel B is a closet lesbian who lives with Patsy Kensit, Craig David has a Northern accent and a Kestrel perched permanently on his arm, Jacko appears in Porridge with Ronnie Barker and swears and says chamone and motherfucka constantly, then there is The Bear, a cuddly little creature based on Ronnie Corbett who lives in a tree in Hampstead Heath and interviews celebs, usually talking obscene (piss off you fucking knobjockey, for example) and becoming visually aroused if it's a female guest.
I love the show and I hope Moz becomes a regular on it. Immitation is the greatest form of flattery.

It's not made better by the moronic scallys who repeat its stupid catchphrases in public in some futile attempt of wit. It's not like they are evn that funny!
You know the sort of sad old blokes with ponytails who repeat Monty Python quotes ad nauseum? Now I love that show, but it still annoys me. Now just imagine these same saddos repeating unfunny lines from an unfunny show in the first place and you'll understand why they have to be shot.

Only one thing scares me about this show... We remember British comedy in the Seventies by Monty Python and Fawlty Towers; in the Eighties by The Young Ones, in the Nineties by Ab Fab et al... And this decades flagship is Bo' Selecta? Argh...
