I just heard about a concert DVD series that the BBC is releasing called "Rock Masters", and apparently The Smiths are going to be one of the bands that will have a DVD. I don't know anything about a release date or pre-ordering info yet. I found out through a site about The Cure (www.chainofflowers.com) because The Cure is also one of the bands being featured in this series.

Just to let you know that the BBC are releasing a series of live DVD's (and on VHS as well..) called Rockmasters, and there is a Smiths live performance featured on one of the DVDs. I don't have any idea of the setlist as yet, but I do know that it's up for release on (or around) FEB 18th 03. It's just slated for region 1 (US and Canada) at the moment, I'm pretty sure we'll get region 2 (PAL and Japan)

Other bands in the Rockmaster series include
acdc, blondie, the cure, hall and oates, Emmylou harris, billy joel, the kinks, the police, carlos santana, and thin lizzy

  • It's 1983 not 1984, according to passionsjustlikemine.com.

  • Doesn't Johnny hate that gig though? I think he's blocked it's release on CD in the past...

  • Thin Lizzy? Now this is news. Frankly, if I can only afford one I'll buy the Thin Lizzy one. Reading this has made all the times I've checked Morrissey-solo worthwhile.

I'm going to be walking around in a daze for days now. A Thin Lizzy Live DVD. Does life ever get any better than this?

  • I recently watched a Smiths gig that I'd taped off VH-1 a couple of years ago. Dunno if it's the same one, but the camera-work is quite bad, it says 'Rock'-something in blue neon lights behind the band, and shows Moz and Marr in a silly dance with each other. The songs played indicate 1984-ish. The title of all the songs played flashes up in white at the bottom of the screen. The funniest thing is during Barbarism Begins At Home when the caption reads "The Crack On The Head"!

  • It should be the Madrid show from 1985. Does anybody have a decent copy of that video? It seems like all the copies I have seen suck. ANd all the copies for the other show you guys mention is really good. So why would you want a show that you already have seen on DVD?
