www.doves.net go to news, it says Doves covered 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want' on a recent tv performance.

According to the posting on May 13, "Doves have recorded 2 tracks live for new BBC TV show "Recovered" on June 7" and "the show actually went out on BBC Choice yesterday, apologies for no advance warning - we were told it was on this coming Sunday..."

  • Now this is a cover that I'm anxious to hear! All the other shit bands covering Smiths/Moz tunes generally turn out to be, well, shit! But this is a band that would lay some wonderful guitar work down. Doves need a little help in their vocal abilities, but nonetheless fine, fine studio musicians. Morrissey/Marr, clear this cover immediately! This is a very good idea. I hope to God it doesn't disappoint!

  • this is good news, doves carry on manchesters tradition of great bands, i look forward to hearing the tracks, the doves (particularly the two brothers) have constantly admitted they admire the smiths. their covers should be quite interesting, there a different type of band to the smiths.

  • Who cares about bloody covers.
Some ex dance hacks turn to depressing indie fodder and morph into best band of the moment. Says more about the poor state of guitar music today than it does about the Doves. Why to lifeless dullards like Muse,Coldplay,Hootie,Doves etc all want to butcher this Smiths classic?
Morrissey its in your hands to block this cover, please please please let me get what I want.

  • Finally, a cool band will redo a Smiths song...one that has been bludgeoned to death by others.

  • I saw the doves cover this and they did it well. They didn't add anything fancy to it, just a straight cover.
The lead singer's voice was also good and he spoke highly of the band too.
