Morrissey was one of several rock icons checking out Chino Moreno (lead singer of the Deftones) and his side project TEAM SLEEP at the Troubaduor on Wednesday, December 19th. Check out this link to the story in the new Kerrang Magazine about the show and an interview with Chino. Link http://www.teamsleep.com/

Excerpt:
Showtime arrives shortly after a dinner break. The Troubadour is packed, and the celeb quotient is fairly high, with Fieldy from Korn, Papa Roach's Coby Dick and Tobin Esperance, Cypress Hill's B-Real, and even Chino's personal hero, former Smiths crooner Morrissey all making appearances.

if he goes to these shows because he knows none of his fans will be there and he can enjoy a live show in relative peace?

or maybe he's going to start wearing khaki pants and a baseball hat turned around backwards on his head.

I guess something must be really wrong in Moz World if he's seeing in a gig where people from Korn, Papa Roach & Cypress Hill went.
I don't know... maybe he's getting old and loosing his great taste/style or maybe he's really bored, but I still have faith.... at least they didn't mention that clown form Limp Bizkit!
To tell you the truth, I'm rather disappointed to see him attending all these second class gigs (what's he looking for? inspiration?) and I pray for the day when Morrissey-Solo reports "Morrissey attended Camera Obscura/Sodastream/Lucksmiths show in..."

      • Dear msmoz7,
I knew it from the first time! Everytime someone says something remotely bad about Morrissey you have thousands of kids like you who instantly bash that person who dare to criticise him.
Of course I've heard those awful bands that you seem to enjoy so much, that's why I'm saying that IMO he's going to the wrong gigs.... I've seen their childish videos on eMpTyV a couple of times, the same MTV that never shows a single video of our man.
And please, don't talk about “getting airtime”. Anyone with a working brain knows perfectly what kind of bands get airtime on TV and radios....
You know, the world is full of exciting new music, but you're not going to discover it watching MTV or reading the Boring Stone magazine.

  • It means zero to me what kind of boring, noisy, scruffy, brainless stuff he's pretending to endorse.
Charles Byron above defined it precisely: if Steven Patrick Morrissey is seen in the same places people from Korn, Papa Roach & Cypress Hill go to, we have a good reason to be cautious.

  • Moz does have good taste. The Team Sleep album that comes out this spring will be nothing short of amazing. Deftones are unlike their copy cat contemporaries. It goes without saying, how upsetting it is that everytime Deftones are mentioned, immediately the list of talentless morons are brought up, even if its in defense of the Deftones. People that havent heard them lump them into that rap rock category. Its just rediculous. Ive never heard them rap, or just play two chords. Listen to the album White Pony before you open your big fat know it all mouths.
