According to Argentine magazine Los Inrockuptibles, Terrence Malick will produce a new version of Graham Greene’s novel "Brighton Rock". The director of "The Thin Red Line" (1998) and "Badlands" (1973) confirmed that he would only be involved in the production of this film, which describes the rise and fall of "Pinkie", a young English gangster.

This is excellent, because it is a great book, I think I read it in one sitting. there is an older film for it, but in America it is impossible to find.

Loved the book, Love Malick. (Score:1)
Malick is interesting for this update because Brighton Rock is really a treatise on what it means to be a "moral" person. "Badlands," one of my favorite movies, is noted for it's amoralistic view of its two anti-heros. It was really way ahead of its time, so Malick seems well suited for the material. Graham Green--hotter than ever!

But if he doesn't cast Brenda Blethyn as Ida Arnold, I don't know what I'll do. She's all I saw when I read the book! As far as that asexual psychopath Pinkie...hmm.

sorry for my blatant naivete...but i've only been a fan of morrissey for less than a year now. i only know that he was influenced by the likes of oscar wilde, and that he really likes flowers...er, yeah. so anyways, is this one of his favorite books? enlighten me... what is the relevance.

        thanks

        Kitt in Badlands (Score:1)
Also, I am guessing at this but I think there is a chance Morrissey's song called "Kitt" could be loosly about the lead character in Badlands played by Martin Sheen named Kitt. Giving Moz's affection for criminals I could see how he would like this very likeable one. "I swear you look like jimmy dean" (Sissy Spacek's character) with his jeans and cigarette dangling from his lips like the lyric in the song, I could imagine him appealing to Mozzer. Anyway Malick makes great movies, I look forward to his portrayel of a great book.
