It's the first time I've seen any of the Salford Lads Club pictures in colour. Very nice :)

Oh, we've just read it through, went to bed at 3.15am. The pictures are lovely and the story 'Trouble at Mill' about QisD is excellent with lots of words from Johny Marr and comment from Andy Rourke. Seems that Mike Jooyce is still in legal conflict with Moz so is silent.
There's a picture of The Smiths in front of a 'Smith's' Bedford coach which is so cool. The 'LA confidential' 'exclusive' interview seems toi have been condusted over the phone and ends abruptly. He says that putting out albums on the internet hasn't proven to be really useful and that'There's a great, intelligent audience of music listeners out there waiting for something interesting to happen.' Indeed we ARE here Morrissey, waiting, patiently.....

I can't help imagining if all the recent activity with Morrissey in the press and his checking bands. If he isn't actively looking for a support group for a shortly to be announced tour. Perhaps to show the music industry his following, to get a label to let him record.

I've read the Morrissey interview in this magazine and it sounds pretty promising. He's been writing songs which is a slap in the face to all those cynics out there. Now all he needs is a deal. Get to it Moz!
PS: This magazine is well worth buying there's absolutely loads of stuff on The Smiths in it and a couple of cool Moz posters. Nice one.

I've just finished reading it, everyone should buy a copy!

The Moz stuff basically is in three bits; The Smiths break-up, a tour diary from Morrissey's first solo gigs in The States and an interview with the man himself.

The Smiths section is informative and presumeably accurate with contributions from former band members and people associated with the band at the time. It's interesting to read the facts about the young Morrissey from people who were close to him then.

The on-the-road account of touring with Mozzer comes from a member of support band "Gallon Drunk". This guy decided to take notes, snapshots and collect memorabilia whilst following Moz around America. This is brilliant stuff. He compared the arrival of Moz Stateside to Beatlemania!

The interview sees our man on top form as usual. Some very witty comments but I'll leave you to find out for yourselves.

I guess it will be available in all Europe yes, but Portugal. Sigh. And on-line shopping can be very expensive sometimes. Alas, this virtual world that just shows what we can't have...

I just read my dads copy of mojo and felt a bit let down.

The main story on the smiths is nothing new. Same old stuff thats been talked about for years.

The only decent thing was the mozzer interview, where he talked about looking for a record deal so he could release his album. He also talked about how he actully didn't like marr and how he enjoyed the smiths.

It also touched on his relationship/ friendship with stipes. But to be honest nothing groundbreaking..

We, poor US suckers, outta wait for another month for this one! Oy wey!

Funny thing so, O'Rourke looks kind of gloomy, as if thinking about pending lawsuits :-)

Having read the article I can safely say that it is informative and unbiased and thankfully not sychophantic in anyway. What is apparent that the genius of the Smiths - the Moz/Marr axis was inherently unstable at the best of times. Furtermore, it confirms that Moz has never really had any grasp on how bands "normally" run!! This doesn't really matter as the band produced some of the best music since the Beatles. But what was slightly saddening was the mere fact that if Moz has got a grip on the need for a strong manager, Marr may not have spent so much of his time doing manager duties like hiring vans, and we may have had more albums after 'Strangeways'.

It appears of course he still hasn't learnt these lessons!!

I cannot believe everybody is being so daft over the Mojo article. It tells us NOTHING we dont know already and is a rehash of the same old management goings-on already covered in The Severed Alliance.

There are also loads of stupid errors.
1. It says they recorded Asleep AFTER the Scottish tour when it was already out as the b-side of "The Boy With Thorn.." during the tour and had been recorded a few months earlier.

2. It was "I Started Something" and NOT "Last Night..." that was released instead of "Stop Me..."

3. At the Wolverhampton 1988 gig Moz played 3 Smiths songs, not 2 ("Stop Me" "Death At Ones Elbow" and "SWeet & Tender Hooligan")

So nice photos, great to see them on cover, great bit about 92 US tour by Max Decharne and Boz but otherwise the emperor's new clothes. An opportunity wasted
