Q & A

11:51 PM

I've been comfortable in the background all these years running the site but now I plan to be more present and visible. So I will start with this journal feature that I have not used much in the past.

So to begin, if anyone has any questions about the site, myself, or anything else, ask here in the comments and I will answer them in the next entry.

A short site hardware update - an upgrade will be coming soon. The site has been under tremendous load this whole year and the nearly 5 year old server has survived and is still going strong. The data is backed up daily but if there is a hardware failure, that could mean the site would be down for a long time - maybe weeks.

So I have decided to buy a new server (upgrading from dual 700Mhz to dual 3.2Ghz) and keep this one as a backup to gain at least a little peace of mind. I anticipate installing the new server in about a month or so.

  • I have no questions at the moment, but would just like to say a big thanks for running this site. Through it I got to meet the love of my live! Thanks for that, amongst others things.

  • What a nice surprise to find an entry from you upon my logging in!

I'll have echo Tales' sentiments re: making new friends/acquaintances; I've felt a real bond with those who have mutually rallied around each other with fiercely anti-Bush entries/comments - especially from those from around the world. We are able to unite and vent our frustrations, and also inform one another of any under-handed goings-on within our countries, whilst at the seme time share in our common love for Morrissey!

Thank you, David - you provide us with a wealth of services, all so humbling too.

  • Many thanks for what you do. I'll admit to a bit of curiousity about your motives for running this site. It seems like you make lots of time/energy/financial sacrifices and don't particularly get a payoff! Is running an excellent site good enough in itself? I am very curious as to how detached you are from Moz's inner circle. Were you ever a part of Moz's inner circle?

I hope you can forgive the blunt questions, David ... obviously you can choose not to answer them.

And me and my heart, we knew...we just knew...forevermore...
  • I'm curious about what other artists you enjoy.
Someone once told me that you Only listen to Smiths/Moz, and I was wondering if this was true?

    Meet me in the alley
  • Reading Gabriella's comment about your possible communication with Morrissey made me think of a question, which is has Morrissey personally ever contacted the site/you and do you therefore know if he himself ever visits it or not?

  • I've wondered why you weren't out in the public eye on your site. I wonder how you'll like the change.

Thank you, btw, for orchestrating such a passionate site.

Happy in this final acceptance of his own absurdity...Albert Camus
  • Thanks also from the Dutch little bit of the globe for running this site, it'll always remain my prime source for Moz-related info and the journals section helped me through some weird patches in my life - thanks for that, too ;-)

One question - aren't you, now you're becoming more visible, afraid that the usual shadowlurkers are going to lay into you?
