today's affirmation

It's so easy to laugh
It's so easy to hate
It takes strength to be gentle and kind...

One of the regulars at Solo, announced in chat, that he has cancer. He said that it is terminal, and that he has accepted the cards that he has been dealt. I feel very sad about it.

Most others are indifferent to his plight. Why? Because he is a racist, fascist, anti-semite.

I could choose to be happy about his illness. Do we really need racists in this world?

But, I am going to instead choose to be kind. And not just in regards to him. But, towards everyone. I hate being mean and ugly. Two wrongs don't help fix anything. I know that I will slip a lot and say unkind things. But, I am going to actively try to be kind -- starting now.

What he needs is LOVE and understanding. No one is born to hate. We are taught this through our parents and environment.

I don't think he is inherently evil. He just has some flawed thinking. I'll hope for the best, for him.

    Who was it? im aAmity and visit oftern but when im on every one else is usually asleep.

    I wish him all the best---even though he may of made a few rude remarks.

    We truely must be kind, it's what keeps people alive when they think all else is lost.....

            It was probably addressed to me. You seem to be too nice to have a troll flaming you.

            I am outspoken and sometimes have unpopular opinions. This fuels vocal opposition. That is OK though. I'd rather be challenged than only be surrounded by 'yes (wo)men.' How else can I grow and learn?

                I'm glad to learn that you are outspoken. Too may girls are bullied into silence. And, women are still given the message that it is wrong to express anger. Often, we end up apologizing for expressing our opinions, when they are not well received.
