"We do get the 'miserablist' thing levelled at us quite a lot," says Garvey. "But a lot of people talk about Morrissey being miserable, and I think his lyrics are nothing short of hilarious. He's got a really wry wit that I really appreciate."

  • I had the misfortune of seeing Elbow as the opening act for Placebo this week in Adelaide.

    They were crap.

  • It's hardly surprising that Guy appreciates Morrissey's sense of humour, he's incredibly witty in the same vein himself.

Elbow gigs are normally spliced with Guy's comic momologues and he's made me laugh into my beer on a few occasions.

One of the best was a discussion about 'Mr Lover Lover', Shaggy. "See Shaggy...?" begun Guy, "is he like, the ragga Benny Hill?" Priceless.
