Morrissey attended a gig in Dublin City's new venue Da2 last night 21st June to see Pony Club and headliners Sack play acoustic sets. He was supposed to sing a few songs but failed to appear. Having talked to members of Sack who learned There is a light that never goes out especially for the evening, they said that Morrissey just changed his mind. It was surprising after he stood in the audience for most of the evening and seemed to be enjoying himself. It's believed that Morrissey is looking for a new support band for the upcoming tour and is checking out some new Dublin bands. He has been talking to a band called The Thrills, but I think it could be more likely to be Pony Club if it's anyone from Dublin.

  • Bloody hell... seeing Moz at a gig... I'd be like one of those Beatles fans from the 60's!

So, did anybody talk to him? Is he planning to tour the UK? If so, does anybody know when?

It would be great if Morrissey chose Pony Club as opening act. They used to be called Fixed Stars, and before that Bawl. The two latter were underestimated pop acts from the mid-late 90s, especially Bawl. They had quite a few fans among the Morrissey fans. And not just because Morrissey was namechecked in one of their songs.

I haven't heard Pony Club yet though. There are 1 minute samples on their webpage, but they picked the first minute of each song, which doesn't give a good idea.

  • I would love it if Sack could open for Moz on his tour again. They kicked ass when they opened for him at the Paladium.

    Note to Morrissey:
Please, Please, Please dont get a band like Phantom Planet to open for you!, yes they're cute but their music sucks!!!

  • Haven.

Maybe Mr Marr will attend a few gigs of Haven,
the band he produced [and Joe Moss as manager].

Maybe , maybe, maybe, he waits till Morrissey's
playing a Smiths song, jumping om stage, takes
Boz's guitar, and It will ne 20 years ago.

    Damn, daydreaming again.

  • never heard of the thrills, but he could get thrill racer. that would be interesting to say the least. personally I didn't care for sack. is it true they had to *pay* to perform as opposed to being paid? if so, that's ridiculous considering how much money was made on ticket sales.

  • I heard this on the streets.

Morrissey might play at Foxwoods Casino and Resort. Why not? Every other has been (i.e., INXS, Bangels, Heart, Diana Ross, etc...) has been playing there.
