Hi I just received my complimentary copy of the CD mentioned above from at that contest where we were asked to make suggestions for the Moz best of CD. The SRC version is OK, I guess. More interesting is the fact that in their letter that came with the CD they make it sound like Morrissey is a big fan.

Here is the letter in its entirety:

Thanks for sending your suggestions for a Morrissey Greats Hits package - much appreciated. Let me know what you think of Snake River Conspiracy's version of "How Soon is Now?" Morrissey told me that the louder it's played, the more he loves it.

...somehow I doubt it...

Rumor: I heard Morrissey was asked to make a cameo in a Snake River Conspiracy video (not sure which song). He declined.

  • I don't think there's anything in the letter insinuating that Morrissey is, or is not, a fan of Snake River Conspiracy. And I agree with the comment, for the louder it's played, the better it gets. Thanks Reprise Records :)

  • Am I the only one who thought their version was horrendous? I couldn't even make it all the way through it. I'm not adverse in any way to people doing irreverant covers, in fact I normally prefer that to a straight reading, I just didn't like the way they did it. Big thumbs down.

  • I think he meant the "More" ($$$) it's played...

"The More you adore me, the richer I get... Your money is mine..." (Although the album jacket swears it's "ignore me")

  • Well, I've heard worse covers. It was awfully nice of these fellows to send it to me - especially because they sent it by airmail to the UK, which was not cheap.

  • I didn't get one sent to me, but maybe that's I told them to shove their crummy greatest hits idea up their collective arse. ::shrug:: I don't think they will though. They probably keep all our money up there.

  • I liked the cover, I think it was a little interestingly different than the one in THE CRAFT soundtrack which didn't add anything to the original. But for the band SNAKE RIVER CONSPIRACY, well, the other song on the REPRISEREC.COM/CARRERBUILDRE.COM compilation (which came with the SRC CD) was not for me. But I liked the How Soon is Now cover.

  • Maybe they meant Morrissey said the softer it's played, the better it sounds.
