I'm not the man you think I am...I am a poor freezingly cold soul...I have just discovered that prudence never pays. Now, we must wait for the right time

I say, take me out

02:56 PM

It's been an eventful few days. No, seriously! I managed to book a summer holiday, learned of Morrissey's latest gig announcement, joined Fantastic Mr_Biffo's band's group, downloaded the Franz Ferdinand single, got stranded in Glasgow on Saturday night, get onto level 9 on "Bounce" on my phone, and various other significant events. I'll take them all in turn.

The summer holiday is booked, with flights to Toronto booked for August 30th. Yeah baby! It's with a strictly no-frills airline, and as such the flights are dirt cheap - less than £200, including airport taxes and all that nonsense. Accommodation remains a problem, and as such we have nowhere to stay. I'm hoping some kindly soul on here will look into it for me...Two weeks in the Godly country will do me just fine, methinks, in my first holiday in a whole two years.

Morrissey's latest gig. What a terrible place, and generally disastrous timing - right in the middle of my examinations. Could you not have timed it slightly better, sonny-o? Doubtlessly, if a Glasgow gig is announced it will either be the night before one of my exams, or when I'm away in Canada. I'm hoping to make at least one gig. Morrissey fans are hoping I don't make any of them, which is quite understandable after the last time.

Raging Homosapien: "The greatest post-modern neo-punk acoustic combo phenomenon this side of Uranus." High expectations, then. Although they only have two songs up there at the moment, I think my esteemed fellow journalist has come up with some pretty decent starters. The numerous works-in-progress he refers to are greatly anticipated down my way. I'd urge you all to show the man some support; he is, after all, a comedy genius. Do yourself a favour: Click here, download the songs, and enjoy. You'll know I'm right.

"Take Me Out" has to be the song of February 2004. It applies to so many genres of music - it's a great pop song, with a touch of rock, an indie voice and even a punk element to it. I fail to see how anyone can fail to like it, even if the rest of their material may prove to be a pile of cack. Oh, and they're Glaswegian as well, so another reason to like them. I didn't think it was possible to have a sub-four minute epic, but they managed it. Buy it.

I left work on Saturday night, and stood at the bus stop for a whole hour, before conceding defeat and retiring to the pub. Not that I needed much persuading, you understand, but going to the pub on one's own is quite the experience, I assure you. I thought it was the type of thing that 60-year-old men did, meeting up with their pals from their teens down there and having their own seat at the bar. And it largely is: I was seemingly the only person in the pub on my own. Even the barmaid collecting glasses decided to ignore me. In case you were in my holy town on Saturday night, I went to the Crystal Palace, followed by The Edge. Hello to you, if you were there.

Level 8 on "Bounce" was completed today, and level 9 is almost done. There's not a great deal of descriptive commentary on that front, it's even more boring than the rigmarole of my typical journal entry. But it's terribly exciting to me.

So, until the next dollop of excitement, get on with your life, and don't read this.

  • Oh my, I honestly didn't think that anyone would take my suggestion of visiting Canada in my latest entry seriously, but here we are. Perhaps I should get into the travel business.

Seriously though, all humour aside, you must make sure to get in touch with me before hand so that I can arrange to be in the city. An evening out with you for drinks should be a rather surreal experience, but I bet it'll be a blast.
