I'm not the man you think I am...I am a poor freezingly cold soul...I have just discovered that prudence never pays. Now, we must wait for the right time

It sounds like a wonderful thing

04:23 PM

An eagerness to study last night turned into a show of utter contempt for the idea today. Although I did read one of the Financial Reporting Standards (all about cash flow), I couldn't really say I "studied". I did, however, attend my only lecture of the day, and take some decent notes - something I have never been great at.

I saw a new kilt design in the newspaper today. It has a saltire emblazoned across the back of it, and looks extremely smart. Yet it's expensive, as with most kilts - £340. Maybe I'll wear it to my wedding.

So, with St Valentine's Day fast approaching, it looks like Jacques will be without a date for the 20th year in succession. I'm ecstatic - it means I can go home, order some good food (or, alternatively, a Chinese. All foreign food really is disgusting, and should really only be consumed when heavily under the influence of alcohol), and watch "Have I Got News For You?" whilst happily getting depressed.

I've often wondered what it would be like entertaining a young lady for Valentine's. When I was younger, more foolish, less cynical and more ambitious, I envisaged it being a great evening. I'd meet her, and we'd walk hand in hand to wherever we were going. I think it was dinner at an Italian restaurant (Italian food isn't foreign, don't be silly), then a cinema - these were the days before public houses even existed in my world. Now, I realise how foolish I've been, and drink tea whilst watching Judge Judy instead.

  • Ah. I must remember to try that. Is that what it's like to be all grown up?

  • Chinese, Japanese, Indian, erm...French. Foreign food is where its at m'laddie! Except the Czech food, obviously. When I went there they gave us moose sandwiches. Even though I don't eat McDonalds, I thanked God when I found the McDonalds in Prague city centre. So, foreign food is good, haggis is bad. That'll do. I'll try and speak to you soon matey, have a good few days!
