I'm not the man you think I am...I am a poor freezingly cold soul...I have just discovered that prudence never pays. Now, we must wait for the right time

Oh, very well

02:05 PM

My Saturday evening was spent watching Die Hard With A Vengeance on DVD. Despite having seen this film on countless occasions, it still brings a tear to my eye. Personally, I'd say that it's a close call between the Die Hard series and the Rocky quintet as to the best sequel in movie history; never much of a Star Wars or Indiana Jones fan myself (primarily due to the fact that I have never seen any of said films, to the sheer bemusement of my colleague at work).

Anyway, the past week has been exciting. Well, when I say exciting, what I probably mean is boring. I've been trying to work hard at university and understand what exactly is going on, but to be honest, I haven't a clue. I'm still doing my reading, so the basics are not lost on me when I go to lectures. But if I were to go in and sit an exam just now, I doubt I'd accumulate too many marks.

I've also to get my hands on a copy of the Financial Reporting Standards, as issued by the Accounting Standards Board. However, having visited the ASB website, it would appear that I have to stump up £8 a time for each FRS. There are nineteen FRSs. Surely there must be a book containing them all?

Sigh, the problems. I've now had a girlfriend for over three months; I've seen her three times in those three months. The last time I saw her was last Friday, when we went to the cinema. After the cinema, we went for a drink, and then she (most probably in her drunken valour) asked me if, in the future, I'd be able to go to her house. I said that I didn't envisage that being a problem. However, her cellular phone would appear to be on the blink, and as such I have not contacted her since last Friday, even although her birthday was on Thursday. I am such a bastard.

A new girl has started at work; her name's Clair. This is the same name as my newly-acquired "girlfriend". This Clair, however (the one at work), is infinitely more attractive than my girlfriend. And younger as well - my girlfriend is 23. I don't think she'll like me much though. I won't get to see her until next Saturday now, as that is the next time I am working. But it'll still be sooner than I'll see my girlfriend, so I guess I should not complain too much.

My first summative piece of coursework is in less than three weeks time - an exam on Financial Accounting. I'm not prepared, but I still have time. It's worth 25% of my overall mark for the subject, so I hope to get a good grade for it, as it will boost both my self-esteem and my mark (obviously). For now, I'll keep myself content by reading the local Chinese menu and drinking cans of Tennents.
