Peace

I don't necessarily need a voice to help along a feeling or accompany my already natural emotions. A musician can take me on a journey without words. I instill my own directive as the music lays the breezes onto my moving body and mind.

The bike ride home was beautiful today. It shook the weary off the length of the day. As I enter the house, my daughter came up to me and said she ran her fastest mile ever at school. She was so happy and I could tell from her smile and urgency that she was, in her way, thanking me. This is a two workout day for her so we will run in an hour.

Working my way through the house I saw my son was doing home work. A hello and a quick bro hug was all that was required to confirm "we're cool".

I find my wife preparing some food for us and we kiss as I pass. She smiles. I love her smile.

I start putting away the days things. I am still wearing my earbuds from the ride and hit play. This song comes on and I'm spirited to, not somewhere else, but right where I am. It softly plays as I get ready for tomorrow. I look around and see the three people I love the most. Just doing their things. All together, having collided in life. It is calm and peaceful. A normal day.

A peace I never knew existed as a young Morrissey fan and one that was never talked about in the songs. So if you see something beautiful, maybe play this song. I hope it is as wonderful for you as it has been for me just now.

nice post. I'm rather envious of your rowing machine. I would love to have one again. Alas, money money money.

Yah, as I've gotten older, I find that doing the ordinary things is easier. And that it's easier to do them in a way that's sort of mildly graceful, perhaps. Grateful, too.
