Call out to you.....

Often, I find that my kids are so conditioned to just explore. After spending several minutes of just staring or observing something special for a period of time, I will have to look up, and often call out to another adventurous member of the family, who is now off seeing there own special something far off into the distance. They will shout, come look at this, and I oblige. It always interests me in what they are doing, thinking and looking at.

It's weird, but we feel the earth, hold it, lay on it, look at it and run our fingers through it

Do your kids realize how blessed that are to have such a loving, attentive and adventurous dad? :)

You know, I don't know. Kids being kids, I'm happy they are who they are. They do look forward to this type of stuff and I don't have to drag them. I'm usually trying to keep up with them so they don't land in a dangerous situation. They have developed some very safe skills over the years regarding how to conduct themselves in the backcountry hen we 4wd off road

With foresight I am clearly trying to fill them with experiences which develop them as people who can find beauty even in a harsh environment. And this metaphorically applies to people and life in general.

The best was we found a scorpion for the first time. That was really cool for all of us. Yeah I got one of those cool but kind of frantic call outs, dad get over here quick HURRY. I can't trade that for anything.

It may be expressed here through the pics, but they know how to experience their own personal silence in expansive areas, which by there nature, make you feel small and put existence in perspective. And we allow them to have the space to just chill and do what they feel is natural. Case and point, my daughter deciding to do her stretch routine in what felt like a cathedral of beauty. I don't have to tell them what to do, they do what feels good for them.

Thanks for the comment.

Wow! A wise dad as well. Beautiful. They are creating memories that will give them pleasure throughout their lifetimes.

Well, I'm trying to give them those opportunities for sure.. Thanks again.
