Dear God. This guy is the worst reviewer in the history of journalism. The NME will be calling him later today to ask if he can write a US tour report for them, I'm sure.

Here's the e-mail I wrote him in response:

Last night you went to a Morrissey concert to relive the 80s.
I'm actually really glad you were disappointed. In your review, you
only really comment on the Smiths songs you heard, or the Smiths
songs you wanted to hear. This was a Morrissey concert. It's not a
Beach Boys reunion where everyone gets together and plays "Surfer
Girl" for old time's sake. The man isn't there to tickle your
nostalgia. He's there to play what he wants to play, to be an artist.

And as for your comment in your preview: "...The English pop star
hasn't made droves of post-Smiths converts." You obviously don't know
much about his fans. One of the largest stories lately concerning
Morrissey has been the new fans and where they are coming from. A lot
of them are Southern Californian Mexican-Americans, others are
in their teens and have somehow stumbled across the music.

Of course, you have a right to dislike what he did. If you don't like
songs from the majority of his solo career (which is what he played),
then I understand. You came in with preconceived notions. All I ask is
that you be objective. You can do that, and still write an opinionated

Of course, Morrissey's not there for journalists, he's there for fans.

Thanks for your time,

Ken Joyner
