Sixteen, clumsy and shy, I went to Dee-troit and died!

I'm writing this wearing my new, Moz-soaked West Ham Boys Club shirt. Moz wears a pretty good deodorant, that's for sure. Its a Fruit of the Loom Screen Stars, size Large, for those who care.

I was part of a party of six in the 4th row and when the lights went down and the band took the stage, everyone wisely pushed their chairs aside and moved to the front. Security kept a tight seal on the main floor area and so there was some breathing room in the back which was fine for my bro-in-law and his wife, who is seven months preggers. So anyway, when Moz tosses his shirt, my man is virtually all alone back there and a fairly easy dive to his right was all that was needed to bring down the prize. His wife wore the shirt the rest of the show but afterward she gave it to my wife, which means I'll probably be sleeping with the damn thing until it unravels but enough of my problems. (Last time I saw Moz I caught a bouquet during Maladjusted and gave it to my wife. She's getting spoiled, what with her Moz marraca from '92.)

The show was great, the sound was only okay from where I stood. The guitars were muddy. I'd say between one and two dozen people made it on stage.

He opened with A Swallow On My Neck and closed the set with Last Night... The encore was a solid version of Shoplifters.

The bass drum still bore SEMISORRY from the night before and the congo version of Boxers was rolled out again. It seemed like he didn't have much voice at the beginning of a hushed Now My Heart Is Full but he pulled through in the end.

My fave was Is It Really So Strange but that's just me.

For some reason I wasn't expecting too much this time--no new material blah blah blah, but the man is just great. Any pre-show reservations were overcome by the most singular Moz. If you have a chance to see Moz, then don't be a fool and go pay your homage.

Cheers!
