A great show it was, truly. I would share the comments already made about the venue, though. The atmosphere in the balcony rows was definitely very mixed, after all the Royal Court IS a bit strange, but I think it's charming after a while. I found it interesting to scan the audience - there was quite a considerable number of well over 30s, which I found thoroughly enjoyable! Moz just speaks to all who are willing to listen.
As to the show itself, Moz was great as ever, much more talkative than in previous years, bantering with the audience, greeting his fans from Manchester, doing the banana bit, rendering his sincere speech on animals, and just looking not at all tired or exhausted! The set list was directed straight to the fans, I think NOVEMBER and ALMA were the only singles, actually.
What was a bit disappointing, though, was the band. I think they have done greater jobs in the past than on this evening. I noticed especially during the Smiths songs that they could not really live up to them (Johnny Marr knew how to play his songs, does anybody disagree?). But after all, I went there to see Moz and what I got was Moz, so why bother?
Hope to see him again in Liverpool!
