Hi Dumbles,

Funny you should mention The Church. I was searching through some old vinyl the other day and found a 10" single by The Church which must be from about 1984/85.

I gave it a spin and it really is a terrific single. It's called "Unguarded Moment" and the front cover has the band looking resplendent in Paisley pattern shirts. Are you familiar with that song ?

It would have been unusual for me not to pursue more output by the band but I never did for some reason.

I think they were from Austrailia ? I may hunt down some more stuff.

Re: My Film? Title it "Manic Depression"!

Actually, The Church are my absolute favorite band of all time, over and above Morrissey/The Smiths. I highly recommend them. I can say with all honesty that the music that they make is the music I would make if I could make music. They're best known for "The Unguarded Moment" (which is the only song of theirs that I absolutely hate--sorry, Johnny) and "Almost With You" in Australia, and in America they had a hit with "Under the Milkyway" from Starfish back in '88. They're an extremely inspired, underrated band and I think there's something there for everyone. I'd recommend the albums "Heyday" and "Starfish" to the average Morrissey/Smiths fan. Johnny, you might also like "The Blurred Crusade" if you like "The Unguarded Moment." They're considered to be an Australian band even though two of their members are British, technically. Also, their most recent original LP is great and it's called "After Everything, Now This." The title track is really breathtaking, I think.

Now...go forth and buy! But buy used. Boycott the RIAA.

PS ~ Johnny, what would you say to a transatlantic wedding performed via message board? ;-)

Why is it good to know? What difference does it make what else Suzanne listens to? Music is a private passion and what a person likes shouldn't be judged, nor should anyone have to justify what they like.

Holy Sh*t!

YOU actually READ my screenplay?

wow.

Man that was actually six years ago already... I wrote it in 2 weeks and never really got around to editing or revising it... it's obviously already very dated with all the referances to pagers and other mid-90's nostalgia...

Thank you for taking the time.

Cheers

if he's referring to my song choices for this poll, i really don't mind. some songs i chose because i loved. others because they were the right feeling.

however, judging by what else Regan has been saying around here today, it appears that he is in need of a Midol.

i started something i didn't finish

yes be amazed that i read a lot of the first act and the last scene.

and considering the debt that i owe you for your countless hours of criticism of my music, let me tell you how you can make your screenplay better.

don't start out with them going to the club or even getting ready to go to the club. you give the audience no explanation of who these people are, and better yet, you've pretty much told the audience that they are going to hook up so there is no reason to see the rest of the movie.

second of all, its completely unbelievable that these girls would be offended by the presence of you, oops, Ray because they themselves pretty much act like you, oops, i mean, Ray. Girls don't stand around and say "i'm gonna knock 'em dead!" unless they are the hated bitch girl that people boo at and want Meg Ryan to kick her ass. And since this girl is club savvy and an overly-confident swinger type who has been around the block a few times, you expect them to pair up and not really do too much except be the non-stop party. Again, not enough stake for people to care unless the point is they party too much and get into too much trouble.

I would say "Yes,Yes,Yes" to a trasatlantic wedding dear, delectable, Dumbles.
"Ask me,I won't say no,how could I ":)

Thanks for the info on The Church.Very interesting. I shall delve further.
I didn't know some of the were British. Mind you....Bush are British and quite frankly America can keep them and claim them as their own.

Can I be the best man??
I won't overdo it with the bevvy and fall about and start fights like the last time. Honest.

Typical Me

Excellent points!

Thank you.

I enjoyed writing it- the point was to finally put something down and I did it in 1997 and it was fun.

As you know: criticizing someone's writing, wether it be music or screenplays or whatever- is a bit like calling their girlfriend ugly- so it's understandable to get really defensive.

But if you really like your music then ignore the mean things said about it- including the stuff I may have said (or was credited as saying) about your songs.

I've had producers and published screenwriters read my screenplay and some loved it and some hated it. No big deal. It was a hoot to write and have the fantasy of being Ray McQuayne- it would be a fun role to play: basically myself exponentially exaggerated- I would get to do some evil stuff onscreen I just couldn't do in real life

You are a beautiful and talented woman. Don't believe anything else you read.

Cheers,

Jay
