What is the version of Finsbury Park you’re referring to?

In the Morgoth version of Finsbury - Morrissey got in trouble for standing up for the 'white race', while Stormzy was praised for standing up for black people.

In Alain's version Morrissey was attacked by queer-hating Nazi scumbags. (Morgoth hates gay people).

Thank you; where is the space for funny? I’m about to read Alain’s version. But I can’t believe I’m still here, reading—nearly thirty years later. And yet I can.

OK, interesting. Curious, actually, that Madness still had that fan base on reflection: but I do remember that I completely expected it at the time.

They couldn’t have worked harder to shake the perception off, though.

My lad has been listening to the 666 bloke today, via this website, he commented on how liberal he seems.

There was probably so many some just always hung on - from The Guardian in 2016:

The all-white band playing black music attracted a racist following in the early days. “It was very tough for us,” Suggs says. “No one can know what we went through, seeing a thousand people sieg heiling. We’d jump in the audience to try to put people off, but there came a point where it was overwhelming. It was f***ing everybody, and you’d see the NF geezers at the back organising these skinheads. You’d see people you knew with a swastika tattooed the wrong way round on their forehead. I don’t think they even knew what the f*** they were on about. We got the credit for it, but they were doing it at Specials concerts, too. It was all over the place for a bit.”

Suggs says Madness took the blame because, in one interview, one member had said he didn’t mind who came to the gigs so long as people had fun. “The headline comes out that we don’t care who comes to our gigs, with the implication that we were encouraging racist skinheads, which we certainly weren’t. All we could do in interviews is say, ‘We don’t like it,’ and continue to make music of black origin.” He grins. “We weren’t the brightest sparks.”

Styx is liberal sounding - but he's still part of the dodgy network & doesn't really challenge them in conversations.

Thanks: nice research.

I know you’re joining dots, but wouldn’t Morrissey be guilty by that method? I personally think it’s faulty logic.

As a general point, nice to see Tories nationalising stuff. I anticipate more.

Styx fully knows what these people are up to & doesn't care.

It's slightly different to videos turning up on a singer's website without comment. Sam might know what he's doing or he might have been targeted.

I notice Gash didn't bother trying to keep up the pretense it was innocuous.

On a side note - George Galloway was trying to target Moz a few months after the liberal educator comment & Viv Krishan from an old punk band, Contempt, was warning him off. Probably because of the Finsbury/immigration NME fit ups.

Jesus, it only took five years for him to notice? Friday night is my nailed on running night: Miss him on Talksport so much, on my radio. Russel Brand Saturday on Radio Two . Similarly missed. What made Gorgeous notice?

Ah, just seen these are quite old? 2017?

Sorry: just read everything and the links. Interesting. What a f***ing book you’re going to have. Title in mind?

Depends.

Panic to the Pin was the last time I thought about it.

George wanted him on board for the 2017 General Election.
Or simply ‘Panic’?

I really like Gorgeous, and (as I remember) something about him telling Tory Blair he was going, and Blair saying something like ‘thank f*** for that’.

I'm very fond of George too - although I'm against his style of campaigning & I wish the old revolutionary socialists would let go of Russia.

I admired his Respect party: would’ve joined if it was a national possibility.

At least we can thank god that wit isn’t what your “book” is going for.

That's the same joke you went for the last time & it'll be the one you go for the next time.

I don't care that you've got some personality disorder that makes you forever hang around this site slagging off Morrissey & trying to feel superior to a failed comedian - but it's not interesting.

My son declared himself a Marxist recently. Obviously I pointed him to Nietzsche, with the best intentions. Yesterday he said he’s getting into Buddhism. 🥰
