I still listen to everything I listened to in High School! Echo & The Bunnymen, Violent Femmes, Depeche Mode, TFF, EBTG, The Jam, Elvis Costello, Cars, Blondie, ..Also some 90's grunge (Alice, Nirvana, Soundgarden- don't hate me!)but I also love Radiohead (Amnesiac is brilliant). I quite like some of the newer indie stuff- Belle & Sebastian, Guided by Voices, Rachels, Sonora Pine, Sleater Kinney & anything on the Matador Label is pretty good.....
My guilty pleasure is watching really bad 80's videos taped off of my tv when I was 16!! (Spandau, anyone?)
It goes without saying that Smiths and Moz are my faves above all......
Right now, I'm listening to Ordinary Boys and Maudlin St. again and again and again and again..........

I can honestly say, though, no matter how nostalgic I become, I will never peg my pants again!!!

Re: Fox other favourite (non Smiths/ Moz) albums

Dude, I f***ing hate the doors.

Is Tori Amos that good?

There's so many to list, but I'll just say ROY ORBISON'S GREATEST HITS cuz it's playing right now

Re: Fox other favourite (non Smiths/ Moz) albums

> Is Tori Amos that good?
Well, of course music tastes are very subjective matter, but I can assure you, Tori Amos is A RRRIOT GIRRRRRL! Very deep, metaphorical and sublime artist, but she is an acquired taste, let her music to grow on you, sorry for a banality...
Also, she is a new age goddess... in a sense, she is charged with human kindness and boundless living and sexual energy... there is something supernatural about her, and I'm not being goofy... her music could play dangerous games with your mind, almost like a drug... Listen to her, yet be careful... her music will be inprinted in your subconscious-ness... or maybe you are Tori-proof male? Try it, in any case... Start with any album except widely experimental electronic "To Venus And Back"... Little Earthquakes is the best album to start Tori...

> Dude, I f***ing hate the doors.
As of Doors, Jim Morrison was a first man I fell in love with (in age of nine..), so maybe I'm unable to be very objective... Think it that way, Iggy Pop started Stooges after he saw Doors in concert, peoples like Kurt Cobain and Vedder and Corgan and Reznor, pretty much the whole alternative US rock movement, they all could be derived from two groups, pretty much, VU and Doors... (Of course, you, dude, may say something like "but I hate all those peoples too" but again, tastes are all very subjective and personal, like sex, in a sense...) Jee, I'm under Doors spell since nursery school age till present... Say Stipe is sexy mo-fo, but his sex appeal is only a pale shade of Morrison's, and I mean combination of musical and lyrical abilities plus something seductive Sinatra-ish, lizard-king-ish in Jim voice... Doors is not a frat rock, it is tragic, dreamy and enchanting... again IMHO... Also, I wish I would hang out with Manzarek (keyboard), Krieger(guitar) and Densmore(drums) too... all the other 3 dudes are very sympathetico... both in a sense as humans and musicians... thankfully, all 3 are alive... I was lucky to see Krieger and Densmore live at Santa Monica pier at August 2000... at a free concert...

I'm going on the rule of one album from one band only

JOY DIVISION - CLOSER
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - HEAVEN UP HERE
THE JAM - ALL MOD CONS
THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH - 0898
THE HOUSEMARTINS - LONDON 0 HULL 4

KIRSTY MACCOLL - KITE
BILLY BRAGG - DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME
THE STYLE COUNCIL - OUR FAVOURITE SHOP
MICRODISNEY - THE CLOCK COMES DOWN THE STAIRS
THE RUTS - THE CRACK
MAGAZINE - REAL LIFE

GOLDFRAP - FELT MOUNTAIN

HAHAH! That's awesome!
Which did you peg your pants? With safety pins or by the whole fold over-then-cuff method?

Man, I miss those stupid days.

From Lubbock to Clintwood East – Terry & Gerry
What’s Happening $tate$ide? (Compilation)
Ocean Rain – Echo & the Bunnymen
Bros – The Four Brothers
King of America – Elvis Costello
Home – Terry Hall
Ruler of Hearts – Irma Thomas
Songs of Strength & Heartbreak – The Mighty Wah!
Workers Playtime – Billy Bragg
Stone Roses – Stone Roses

Thanks for asking because it reminds me that I've bought some of these in the last couple of years so there still is great music to be found - despite what Morrissey says (OK, he was just talking about the charts). Oh, the most recently recorded one was Pete Wylie's Mighty Wah! record.
